ok this is funny, for gen x if you cried “you heard what are you crying for”? We were on our own for after school snacks/food and nobody catered to our wants. You ate whatever was put on your plate and love meant a candy corsage on your birthday.

I spent entire summers at home unsupervised from age 8 on. No camps, no activities, no reading. Just a ridiculous amount of TV.

I’m so glad all these stereotypes are just media nonsense. I wish everyone realized that though.

All of the Boomers I am close to are great people and have respect for my generation (millennials). And all the Boomers I know personally totally understand and are sympathetic to the fact that Millennials got saddled with student debt and unaffordable housing in a way they didn’t have to deal with.

I’m mad at the larger macro events perpetuated by some of their generation like the financial crisis, but that’s honestly a rich vs. middle class/poor issue, not a generational issue.

My kids are millennials and they are great kids. I remember when my son was around 10 and got a participation trophy for playing soccer and when we got home he tossed it in the garbage and said we should only get a trophy for winning. His favorite ES teacher was the toughest in the school in terms of grades because she refused to pass kids who didn't do the work.

My kids are horrified--HORRIFIED--at the stories from my Gen X childhood. Left alone for entire days when I was sick starting in late elementary school. Allowed to roam around with no supervision. Exposed to adult divorce drama way too young. Sat alone in front of the school for an hour past pick up time because no one could come get me. I did not live at home even in the summers past age 17, when I went to college. I have not had my Boomer parents' support or input for any decision since high school. They were frankly terrible parents who were too self involved to be parents, and they are only slightly better grandparents to my daughters.

I also think the Millennials got a raw deal, especially financially. Gex X might have been neglected for most of our lives and graduated into a terrible economy, but at least our college costs weren't as inflated.

I loved being a latch key kid. I watched my tape-recorded soap operas and ate my little debbies with nobody bothering me!

For many, Millennials are forever 25. I'm a 37 year old Millennial in a senior leadership position and some of the Gen X and Boomer colleagues constantly bemoan Millennials who are the entry level 22-25 year olds (Zoomers? On the cusp?). They are HORRIFIED when I say I am a Millennial. We got older but people didn't seem to notice amongst all the fun bashing.

What’s funny is that Boomers doted on millennials and then when millennials grew up, Boomers were like “why the fk do you think you’re so special?”

Thanks for the chuckle. I agree with you. And they complain that their kids won't leave the house, spend too much money, etc. It's like they became silent generation parents once their kids hit 25ish.
