I believe it was only a Prep decision.

I have also heard STA is not in favor of allowing Spring sports this season too.

If Prep said that, it's a Prep-only decision. SSSAS ADs sent an email today that included the following:

"At the current moment our leagues still plan on having a seven-week fall season beginning on Monday, February 22. Regardless of how this plays out with our leagues, fall will look very different with varying regulations in Md., D.C., and Va., and many schools not sharing the same spring break. We are committed to beginning fall sports on Monday, February 22. We currently have fall contests penciled in through the first week of April, but this schedule is subject to change. As we get closer to the end of February, we will provide another update about the fall sports schedule and athletics activities that we anticipate occurring over spring break.

We will then transition into a spring season at some point after spring break. The anticipated start date for spring is currently Monday, April 12. We also do not have end dates set in stone for the spring season and are exploring options to stretch this season out longer than usual so we can maximize the experience for our spring athletes."

There has not been an announcement concerning the cancelation of winter sports-- so to suggest there is an announcement forthcoming to cancel spring sports is not likely true.

If that's the case, then great. My guess is there will be play days and one day tourneys for HS 'club" teams as well from either Corrigan, Madlax or the Mitchell bros. Try and get it up to 16-18 games. I'll take it.

Many on this forum have little or no real knowledge about what is going on with these different leagues.

The WCAC is very athletics centered - they will play if they can.

The IAC also wants to play. The most likely teams to play are spring teams. It is likely they will play a very attenuated schedule, likely five games in the league, or 10 games in the league, home and home.

I don’t buy anything you are saying.

It’s January why would the IAC make any forms announcement to either have a season or cancel a season?

There will be a spring season one way or another. Even if every single school cancels spring sports, the teams will come together and form their own club team like they did in the Fall and play in the Next Level League. There is no way that the Mitchell brothers or Maddux skip over an opportunity to host a spring season for all the major schools.

Agree here. As a parent, I would just assume know now so we can start planning where we play outside of school for both my son and daughter. I would love a HS league played up in Howard County including both Baltimore and DC high level HS lacrosse. Would be great for the kids to compete with their HS classmates but in a club atmosphere. I have zero faith that the IAC or WCAC leadership actually has the spine to go with a Spring season, even though all of the science says everyone will be perfectly fine. They are just too timid of people.

WCAC schools are playing basketball. Why would they not play lacrosse?

Look for various tournaments, rather than a conference season, to replace the high school schedule. The IAC is making an announcement this week regarding cancelation with possibly a late school year scrimmage or 2 depending on the atmosphere. Meanwhile, there are red and blue states all over the country going to school and playing sports with no different cv19 circumstances than the DC area. Sadly, the restrictions in our area didn't help.

I'm sorry but no family is going to drop an IAC school in the middle of March to go play lacrosse for St Johns or Gonzaga, especially if they have dropped a $15K or $20K tuition check.

We are talking HS lacrosse here...
