Frequent PP. Here’s a palate cleanser that has nothing to do with rock stars:

Loretta Young Revealed Gable Love Child. Nov. 20, 2000 -- Before she died in August of ovarian cancer, Oscar-winning actress Loretta Young admitted to having an affair with co-star Clark Gable — and that her “adopted” daughter, Judy Lewis, was actually her own daughter with Gable.

The paint used on the Tin Man contained aluminum powder landing Buddy Edson in the Hospital and replaced, the Cowardly Lion’s costume was made from a real Lion’s Hide, the witch was severely burned from a failed pyrotechnic trick; Toto’s foot was broken when stepped on and can be seen limping.

Weren’t there also suicides on the set?

What about stinker stars? Those with significant BO include:
Cameron Diaz
Johnny Depp
Matthew Mc Conaughy

After reading about it, I never looked at these actors the same way again!

And I shall come full circle to remark that Phil Hartman played Captain Carl in Pee-Wee’s Playhouse; Laurence Fishburne played Cowboy Curtis.

In The Fellowship of the Ring, Gandalf hits his head on the ceiling in Bilbo's home. That was not part of the script. Ian McKellen did it by accident but stayed in character so they left it in.

Stayin' Alive by Bee Gees was used in a study to train medical staff to perform CPR. The song has close to 104 beats per minute, and 100-120 chest compressions per minute as are recommended by the British Heart Foundation.

I always like hearing about musicians who stay married. Charlie Watts (Rolling Stones) has been married to the same woman for over 50 years. I think that's incredible.

PP and I am borderline obsessed with LT rocker marriages.

John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin married in 1967

Jack Blades of Night Ranger and Damn Yankees: married in 1977

Maybe my fave couple: Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo: 1982

That is incredible considering their lifestyles. My fave is U2’s Bono and his wife Ali. They were high school sweethearts in Dublin (1982).

And Jon Bon Jovi! High school sweethearts.

Most, if not all of these, have kept their family life private. Coincidence?

PP quoted. Great point. Something to be said about keeping your professional life just that.

Alright...since I’m here I’ll share another fact.

Margaret Hamilton, known forever as the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz was a former schoolteacher. She got into acting when she was (unusual for the time) a newly divorced mother with a very young son. She was perhaps self-conscious of her “scary” image and appeared on Mr. Rogers to explain how she was NOT wicked and was playing “ make believe.” As an older woman, she was cast in a long running Maxwell House commercials.

Love this thread! This post has my heart. I am borderline obsessed with Wizard of Oz. There are so many great stories behind the making of this movie, the munchkins, ruby slippers, technicolor and Judy Garland revised lines. This could be another thread!

So, I’ll share a Mr. Rogers fact. Mister Rogers would narrate himself feeding the fish each episode with 'I’m feeding the fish' because of a letter he received from a young blind girl who was worried the fish were hungry.
