I don't know. The phased restrictions he established were necessary and occurred at the right time for NOVA, and the exact timing of easing is a relatively minor detail. But they were inappropriately applied to the rest of the state. My assumption is that peoples' tolerance for quarantine is limited in duration, and that Northam needlessly fired that bullet for rural Virginia.

The guidelines he's produced for schools are an incomprehensible mess. While he's gone out of his way to point out they're not binding, he's created a liability trap for school boards/supervisors that could have an enormous impact on kids - especially poor kids.

On the subject of liability, he should be pushing for Covid liability waivers for both the public and private sector. Yet he's doing the opposite - both with respect to things like the school guidelines and proposed private sector workspace safety guidelines.

I'd like to see Gov Northam delay inside eating etc even longer! It's fresh air that limits.

While I held some criticisms earlier in the spring I now feel Northam has handled this quite well. Our numbers are good and I think we are in a position to set an example of how safety and the economy can be balanced in Phases 2 and 3. IMO he should keep praising Virginian's while reinforcing the idea of "what we are doing is working". From what I have seen people are pretty good on wearing masks and distancing, so I would like to see him keep the pedal down on reinforcing the wearing of masks inside public buildings or when distancing isn't possible. I'd like to see him

In an evidence-based way, I think that makes sense. For example Florida and Texas have restored some restrictions on bars so makes sense to consider tightening up Virginia's Phase 3 bar guidelines. I hope we can get away from across-the-board restrictions even where there is no proof of spread. The Phase 2 Swimming Pool guidelines are already too restrictive IMO with no evidence to back them up.

Governor Northam has done a good job through this pandemic. It helps he is a physician by training.

I ask him in light of the recent increase in US Covid 19 outbreaks to consider being even more conservative in his recommendations for openings. I know most here will not agree. I wish nothing but the best for my state of Virginia.
