This coronavirus appears to be under better control in warmer places like singapore, vietnam, hong kong, etc., which makes me hopeful about the summer months. Fingers crossed!

Corona beer sales are going down due to confusion over the Corona Virus. We may see a downturn in drunk driving during St Patty's Day, Cinco de Mayo and other drinking holidays. That's good, right?

This x 1000. The biggest risk of this virus is that everyone freaks out and blows up the global economy. If we all stayed calm, it will just be like another flu that is really bad initially and then just becomes a crappy part of life. The real danger is in the freak-out which could upend our global financial systems and supply chains. We'd be much better off washing our hands frequently, using common sense, and going about business as usual.

"Similarly, how many people die of seasonal influenza (or COVID-19) depends on the kind of health care they receive. In China, death rates are much higher in the overwhelmed Hubei province than the rest of the country exactly because of the quality of the care. Hospitals only have so many beds, especially in their intensive care units, and those who have a severe case of COVID-19 often need mechanical ventilation and other intensive care procedures. When they are out of beds, people end up languishing at home and suffering and dying in much larger numbers.

All this means that if we can slow the transmission of the disease—flatten its curve—there will be many lives saved even if the same number of people eventually get sick, because everyone won't show up at the hospital all at once. Plus, if we can flatten that curve, there is more time to develop a vaccine or find antivirals that help."

If you don’t test you can’t have it.

And this is a good thing...

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced today that Medicare and Medicaid will cover any costs associated with coronavirus testing.

From January 1 to 20 the images show higher levels of nitrogen dioxide over China, but from February 10 to 25, traces of the gas are hardly visible.

Take a look at the satellite maps!

I've been saying this to DH all week. The planet is sorting itself out because we won't do it.

Easy for you to say.
