Why is he apologizing for these policies? Common sense is not always the answer to complex issues. If you had any common sense you would realize that. He implemented racist policies, defended them in language that is even more bigoted that the policies on their face. And you are spouting rubbish about common sense.
There is always a human component to data. And sometimes, data allows you to draw conclusions that you are desperately seeking whether or not these conclusions are the entire picture.
Human empathy goes a long way. And Bloomberg has certainly show that he has none for black people who are victims of racial profiling. For a man with so much wealth, he had enough access to information/data/studies showing how rampant and detrimental racial profiling is. Yet in 2015, he choose to take a narrow-minded stance on his policies. There are ways he could have defended his thinking at the time without being so blatantly ignorant to the negative impacts of his policies.

Maybe we random DCUM posters, and the pundits who are so shocked by Bloomberg’s support, should consider that we may not know everything.
+1. DCUM posters surmise they know everything from how African-Americans think to how we will vote. Not.
Eh. AAs will vote 90% for the Dems and will vote for who the AA leaders tell them to.
That's why Bloomberg is bribing AA leaders left and right to get them to ignore the Aspen tapes. It's amazing to see all these people pretending it's no big deal when they went after Pete Buttigieg big time simply for the crime of firing the AA police chief in South Bend, while what Bloomberg did was far more racist. Every election brings out making pacts with the devil to win an election and it's funny to see the hypocrisies. Like the women's groups with Bill Clinton.
It appears you are either a Sanders or Trump voter as you castigated neither of them. I agree with the previous poster. You have no clue.
And it’s impossible to tell them apart online. Interesting, isn’t it?
I am neither a Trump nor Sanders supporter. Just someone who's realistic and not in denial about the strange relationship between progressive Democrats and their much more socially conservative AA voting bloc. It doesn't matter the enlightened liberal black Democrats in DC. It's the millions of more religious, more working class, more socially conservative black Democrats who will have issues voting for a gay man, especially a white gay man. It's the same reason the Republicans would have problems with a gay Republican candidate and their evangelical base.
Politics always brings out the hypocrisies in political alliances to make the coalition work. The progressive Democratic party is still reliant on millions of homophobic voters. That you have to resort to accusing me of being a Trump or Sanders underscores the denial and only proves my point.
Your point proves absolutely nothing. Some, not all, AA may have issues with being gay but not to the maniacal level of white evangelicals. Why? Because there is the underlying reminder of oppression and prejudice, no matter how small. Btw, my black church beloved choir director is gay.

Your anecdotal experience means nothing. Even Politico had a frank article about it. AA support for gay rights lags the larger American support by a decent amount. Let's not pretend there are plenty of Democratic voters who'd have real problems voting for a gay man.

I guarantee my 'anecdotal' experience carries a helluva more weight than you in my community. Politico? Whatever. And you wonder why you and your cohorts so-called authoritative stance of the AA community pushes so many towards Bloomberg regardless of some of his flaws.
I said some, not all. There are Democratic voters who may have problems voting for a gay man but I have never seen or read in black publications (yes, we also read Politco and other publications) the level of hatred and animosity that I have seen in white evangelicals and Republicans including, for example, the extraordinary following of Rush Limbaugh and his stance on gays. And yes, our churches grapple with the issues of biblical instruction vs homosexuality but non-discrimination is at the forefront
I am a straight, Christian African-American. I listen to my ethnic peers at church, work, barber and beauty shops, street corners. Black publications. Black radio, etc, etc. And not only do I read Politico and NYT. I tune in occasionally to Limbaugh so i can know how you think.
And I will bet the farm that many socially conservative blacks (and this is not the small group Blacks for Trump) will think LONG and hard before casting their votes for anyone like Trump. Or Sanders. Or Biden. Or Buttigieg. I will not be defined by you. What a joke. Later for you.

Vote Dem -- the party of the REAL billionaires
Love it! This thread is hilarious.
This could be an awesome slogan for when Bloomberg wins the nomination.
Better than the party of CORRUPT LIARS and MORALLY AND FINANCIALLY BANKRUPT A-HOLES...
Agreed, that would be an awful slogan for the Democrats. Truthful, but awful for votes.
(I'm referring to the Democratic leadership in Baltimore - assuming you're talking about the same?)

Yeah, no thanks.
So you’d vote for Trump over Bloomberg??? That’s stupid.
What Bloomberg said about stop and frisk is way more racist than what Trump has said about a lot of people. Given the choice between two problematic billionaires a lot of Dems will stay home.
Eh. Trump has said similar about Mexicans. But I have to admit that some of Bloomberg's stuff is at bad as it gets. I'd still vote him over Trump. However, I hope it does not come to that. Bloomberg is my least favorite candidate. But I will reluctantly pick him before Trump. At least Bloomberg has the decency to issue apologies, however unconvincing they are...
