Had no idea Georgetown was considered particularly prestigious until perusing DCUM. It seems awfully overrated. People really comparing it to the Ivies?

Some of the garbage that is thrown out on these threads just boggles the mind. Nobody who gets into Notre Dame is going to choose any of these schools over it except for GU and BC. Jesuit high school graduates go to ND all the time. And there's no such thing as a "Jesuit parish."

I do not have time to read every post here, and this is not the most important thing, but I do think the atmosphere of a campus matters if you plan to spend four years there. Georgetown beyond the front of Healy has some cramped, dark areas that are not very pleasant. You are also on final approach for planes landing at Reagan. Spend a day or two on campus and you will hear the constant noise above you since the planes follow the river to land at DCA. I just want to point these items out, especially the planes since people making a quick visit may not notice. Thank you.

I'm a non-practicing catholic.
My kid went to a public school and chose ND because it's a great T20 school with one of the best business program and alumni network.
Nothing to do with a religion.

Not necessarily. Plenty of catholic kids attend Jesuit high schools because they are usually among the best or the best catholic schools in a given city. Plenty of people attend the most convenient parishes and could care less that they are Jesuit.

Obviously the location is important for things like student employment and internships and opportunities as an undergrad. There are opportunities only in Washington DC that don't exist in the same way elsewhere. But every location has unique opportunities.
