If you just want to go on reported GPAs in the CDS:

UNC Chapel Hill 4.7
UVA 4.3
UM College Park 4.28
Harvard 4.18
Stanford 3.95

So this shows conclusively that UNC, UVA, and Maryland are more selective than Harvard and Stanford.

The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia reports the statistics for all four year institutions in the state both public and private every year.

For entering (not accepted - those scores are higher because many Virginians use UVA as a safety against the Ivies) scores of this past fall's class (class of 2023) were

GPA: 4.49 (75th percentile); 4.35 median; 4.25 bottom 25th
ACT: 34 (75th percentile); 33 median; 30 bottom 25th
SAT 1500 (75th percentile): 1430 median; 1340 bottom

So a full 25% of the entering UVA class is walking around with a GPA higher than a 4.49; an ACT higher than a 34 and a SAT higher than a 1500.

The bottom 25th percentile is usually reserved for athletes, Questbridge, low-income, first-generation, URM, ukulele champion, some internationals, prize winner with lower scores and legacies.

You originally stated higher gpa AND higher test scores are required to get into UVa. Does UVa have higher SAT/ACT scores?

I am sure this has something to do with the weighted or non-weighted GPA. Do you think Duke really ranks #8 in North Carolina?

Read the fine print. Duke didn’t publish its GPA score. 4.08 is just this website’s estimated figure. All other metrics clearly show which school is more selective.

Um, using your own resource, PrepScholar, Duke's average GPA is reported as a 4.07 (https://www.prepscholar.com/sat/s/colleges/Duke-SAT-scores-GPA) and UVA's is reported as a 4.27, which is exactly what I said. UVA's 75th percentile GPA is a 4.49

You cannot compare weighted GPAs across schools as weighting schemes are not standardized. Test scores are a better measure.

Your premise is ridiculous. 37 TJ grads went to UVA last year. Even assuming that every single one of them went to UVA to save money, which is highly, highly unlikely, all 37 aren't even one percent of UVA's entering class. How can you generalize about all of UVA based on this?
