Well, that theory didn't hold up too well (not surprisingly -- thinness does not make you mentally healthy)
Then again, why did Kate feel the need to tell him it wasn't Jack's first solid food? Kids have firsts without their parents all the time. The person who saw it can always just shut up about it. (I did when I was babysitting for a toddler who learned how to jump while the rest of the family was out.)

OT kinda but there is a book (fiction) I read some time ago called We Are Not Ourselves, which portrays a family over time, and eventually the husband develops early onset Alzheimers. There is growing tension and then one day the wife (who is a nurse) suddenly stops cold when she realizes what is happening. I highly recommend it.

I thought Randall's reaction to Rebecca misplacing her phone and her reaction to the missing phone was contrived as a way of bringing dementia into the story, (I know millenials who constantly break or lose their phones, doesn't mean alzheimers) but later it dawned on me, her insistence on taking notes for baby Jack's care and her focus on taking pics with the phone--in order to hide or work around memory loss? And perhaps Miguel knows and is keeping the secret for her?
Agree. I didn’t think her obsession with the phone on its own was cause for so much concern (though it was incredibly annoying). I think something a little more alarming should have been the catalyst for Randall’s concern. But it looks like next week, Rebecca gets lost, so things will start getting worse for her.
Side note - I think Mandy Moore is an incredible actress. She is so believable at all stages of life.

She also knew that when she went back to LA Kate and Toby would ask her about Randall’s new house, office, what they saw etc. Better to have photos you can show people if you realize you may not remember on the spot.

Me too. I really want to continue watching, but I was crying when she was forgetting her phone knowing that path. I'm not sure how I'll get through the rest of the season...

I keep focusing in on Kate and the neighbors relationship. They are slowly softening up the neighbors personality which is bonding him and Kate more than Toby and Kate. At first I thought Toby would leave Kate cause of his new interests but now I’m wondering if Kate will leave Toby? For some reason this story line intrigues me the most.

I don’t think Miguel realizes it. He didn’t seem at all cautious with his response. He was kind of jovial. What? She lost it again? I just bought her a new one because she lost the last one! Haha!
Miguel sees her every day. Randall, who saw his mother more often when she lived driving distance, hasn't seen her in about 6 months (given Jack's age). The changes are more noticeable to him.

I think what alarmed Randall is the personality changes he sees in his mom. She’s so insistent about doing certain things, focused on her phone, she snaps at him and gets really defensive when he says he’s concerned. It’s very unlike her. And personality changes are early signs of dementia. He may not be thinking that’s what it is but he suspects something is wrong.

Interesting thought. It took us a while to catch on to my dad's dementia-- he's very smart and has always been highly organized, so he was able to hide it pretty well until the memory loss got too severe. We thought it came on suddenly until we really started thinking about it, and realized it had been going on for several years.
