A Republican lawmaker from Texas issued a barely veiled threat against Beto O'Rourke after the Democrat presidential hopeful said he would seize assault rifles behind many mass shootings in the country.

I'm pretty sure more first graders are beaten to death by their parents or drown in swimming pools than wind up being gunned down in Sandy Hook style school shootings. "Sky is falling" narratives are somewhat ridiculous given that homicides have been declining for decades.
