Unlike places like France, it matters in politics here, usually involving at least a mea culpa and seen as a character issue by the American voters. Should a woman get a pass on that just because she’s a woman? as a liberal woman and a feminist i’d Say nope. if your marriage fails that sucks but you separate before you find someone else, otherwise people get deceived. Incredibly inconvenient for a politician I realize but Infedility is a red flag for any security clearance and could easily cause a fed worker to lose their job (blackmail potential.)
Since he is a consultant and her same age and not a staff member, I don’t see the power differential/exploitive relationship some people are suggesting (ie Clinton/lewinsky,) but the affair still would have consequences that she should attempt to address. Lying about it/covering it up of course is always worse. Everyone is human and makes mistakes but no one (in a public trust position) is above scrutiny. Perhaps it is a good sign that more women are truly wielding political power, when inevitability some disappoint us with the same vices that the the men traditionally in power had.

I really don't care about her sexual escapades.

Did she use campaign funds for personal purposes?
That’s all that really matters here, and there needs to be an investigation into potential illegal violations of the law.
Didn't she already do that before?
Perhaps more effective consequences are in order if she has repeated the same crimes.
Again, there is no evidence that she has committed a crime in this case. An amazing number of posters have already convicted her. Are any of you familiar with due process?
Doesn’t “due process” demand an investigation?
Yes, of course. I have no issue with an investigation. For that matter, I have no problem with appropriate consequences if violations are found. I do have a problem with posters finding her guilty before any facts are known.
Perhaps every politician discussed on this forum should be afforded the same consideration.

Yes. And had to pay it back along with a fine.
Guess Duncan Hunter wasn't as fortunate...
