+1 Excellent. No thanks to the idiot CBP officer that made a snap judgment based on biases that cost thousands of dollars.
You don't know that. The boy was only 17. The friends' comments in social media could have been "Death to America". Remember the pilots for the two 9/11 flights that went into the World Trade Center came out of Logan. I would rather be safe than sorry. And as I said above, he wasn't deported, only his visa was revoked and both Harvard's on campus lawyers and AMIDEAST (the org. giving him the scholarship) were active. Don't believe everything you read in a student newspaper.
The CBP's decision was reversed, and the kid was quickly let back in, so clearly whatever the CBP person saw on Facebook wasn't that bad. We are not responsible for what people we are "friends" with post on Facebook. I have 900 Facebook friends and I check it once a month. If someone was writing offensive or violent posts, I wouldn't even know.
Again, you don't know that. You are "assuming" facts. Harvard and AMIDEAST resolved the visa issue. Don't believe everything you read in a student newspaper.
I know that CBP allowed the kid in to the United States and that he's now taking classes. Meaning that the initial decision by the first CBP officer wasn't the correct one.

Poor kid. It's hard enough adjusting to college and a new country, without that kind of notoriety before you even start your first day of school.

There is no right to be provided entrance into the US. Whatever ‘situation’ he felt he needed to explain after a review of his computer and phone apparently was enough to bar entry while all the other student were allowed to enter.
He can explain from his home country and request to try again.
I see nothing wrong with this.
That reflects more negatively for you than anything else.
Sad.
Not the person who posted above...but I agree with them....sad that you view the world this way and have zero empathy beyond your tiny bubble. Makes you an unkind human being.
Or just a difference of opinion from yours
The fact that you don’t see that reflects on your myopic view of the world.
Sad.
