Offended how? Like they expect you to like a social media post, or to send them a gift? I guess I missed all the whiny posts on DCUM from women without kids complaining that you didn't acknowledge their special day. All I see is you whining that someone else got some cake, too.

I personally feel anyone who cares for another should be celebrated at some point during the year. Aunt or Uncle Day or Village Day should be a thing. Half of you wouldn’t make it without a village to support. Who cares if an Aunt gets a card on mother’s day! Get over yourself

My (human) kids really leaned into this with constant comments about how I am also the cat's mom, but not the dog's mom, because one son is the dog's dad so that makes me the dog's grandma. And then they said they would celebrate grandparents' day later with the dog. Completely silly but obviously they had noticed this trend on social media!

My 5-year-old asked "what about the people who don't have mommies?" and we talked about it like a birthday. For most people, the date of her birthday is just another day, but for her, we celebrate it. People who aren't mommies or don't have mommies don't.

The one about people who chose not to be mothers is always a head-scratcher for me. Not sure why Mother's Day is a hard day for them. But whatever, not a big deal to me

+1. I’m a mom of three, but my sister cannot biologically carry a child. I really don’t care if her husband gets her a card from her cat. Why do you care? Also, I don’t have a good relationship with my mom so even though I’ve had a lovely day with my kids, it’s also a sad day for me for that reason. Let people do what they need to do on this made up Hallmark holiday. If you want to feel celebrated as a mom let your spouse and children know and be grateful that you have a spouse and children.


This doesn’t make any sense. The origins of Mother’s Day were not made up in a Hallmark board room. It’s actually a touching story. You should educate yourself on topics you know nothing about before spouting off like you do.


So the post doesn’t make sense because I said it was a Hallmark holiday? Who invited it? You? I don’t really want to educate myself on the origins of the day. I have three kids and work full time.
