There is no way to put the genie back in the bottle or to discuss things rationally because every word you see will be looked at through the lens of a suspected abuser (and reported). I would however formally request copies of the records and research the regulations on how to correct the record. Conduct all communication in writing and be very careful/deliberate with what you say. It sucks for everyone, but, it is what it is.
If it makes you feel better, mandatory reporting requirements are confusing and stressful for the people who have them. Taking away their discretion seems like a good idea in theory but in practice it incentivizes over reporting.

My neighbor was reported by camp councelor over smth that her child said (she didn’t give the details). She always seemed a nice mom to me, a bit quirky but her kid seemed happy and attached to her. She then pulled her daughter out of that camp (free stuff for a high farms school) and she basically had to hang out with mom who was doing odd jobs like housecleaning and doordashing. The mom also went to homeschool her which I thought she was not equipped to do.
In this case I think the report has done more harm than good.
Suspicion of abuse. There were pretty obvious signs that someone in this child's life was abusing them. But my job, as a mandatory reporter, is not to investigate these things. It is to report to authorities, full stop.
It's also not my job to figure out if a report will do more harm than good. Like I said, I'm a mandatory reporter. I can be fired (or worse) if I fail to report.
No I mean what was the actual basis for suspecting abuse.
In my neighbor case the girl said something to a camp counselor.
What about your case?

Yes, and all of this supposedly happened on the same day—he had a session, the incident was reported, the police went to the wrong house, the call from the wrong house came, then the police (not CPS) showed up. I don’t buy it.
As a mandated reporter I have made dozens of reports to CPS. You provide CPS with a description of the allegations, name of the alleged abuser, contact info, etc. If a school counselor made a report to CPS they would have provided your address that was on record at the school. The police would not be involved in an invesitgation and would not just "look up" your address. Additionally, CPS would have interviewed your child also. There is no way this all occurred in the same day for a slap.
Well, ALL-KNOWING mandated reporter...
Jeff already confirmed that the OP isn't sock-puppeting & since he's already investigated this thread & he DIDN'T delete it, she's not a troll either.
So maybe it all actually happened just as she says, huh? $

Oh, for heaven's sake, Jeff doesn't (and can't) attest that someone is telling the truth about things that didn't happen on DCUM. He can say some limited things, like whether they are sockpuppeting, or where they are posting from (if relevant), or if it looks like they are posting inconsistently over time. That's all, more or less.
He can say she doesn't exhibit red flags to being a troll. He can't say she isn't a troll -- just that if she is, it isn't obvious by the means he has to assess.
He deletes if people violate the TOS. He doesn't delete just because he dislikes the content or person, and a thread stay up isn't a vouch for the OP or content in general.

Why do you keep posting if you think I am a troll??
And yes things in the political forum that are not aligned with the “general party line” are absolutely deleted.
1. I have posted twice (IIRC) in the 7 pages of the thread. This would be my third post.
2. I keep posting because you don't make sense and are trying to justify your abusive behavior toward your child.
3. Plenty of people have posted that they disagree with Jeff and don't get deleted. Also, we see those threads and posts. It takes more than disagreeing.
1) doesn’t counter my argument
2) not justifying, I am saying I don’t need any more “help” for my son thank you
3) I would rather not discuss the moderator, thanks.
