^^ UVa is very low ranked in world university rankings. Foreign students don't know about it. The world goes on results oriented rankings and UVa specializes in the easier liberal arts subjects.

Actually not true. We hosted a Chinese student as part of m sons student exchange program and both he and a few of his colleagues also had not heard of UVA which honestly shocked us. It was interesting, there were other schools they have not heard of as well but that one really surprised me.

I don’t see how that could be so.

That's interesting. I would have thought differently since UVa is ranked so highly by so many of the college ranking organizations. I guess all those lists are pretty useless for all the schools on them.

There’s not enough of a difference between these two institutions to justify turning down the money.

The question isn't whether Miami is a good school; it's whether it's worth $200K. It's likely that there are reasonable alternatives that would be more affordable.

D is graduating from U Miami in a few months and has had a fantastic time and off to U Chicago Law school, so it clearly has done great things for her. My vote U Miami.

Agree about Miami about 10 years ago since then a lot. has changed, their leadership for one and the caliber of high achieving students that they are drawing. We know several who chose Miami for many different reasons that could have gone on to even higher ranked schools. They are rally producing some serious academics which I am happy to see, one visited my D's school and she was by far the most impressive of the entire panel. Really remarkable young woman. Left me with a good feeling as she was an excellent representative of the school.
