Indeed. I was talking last night to my gay friends and they are all voting for Trump believe it or not. People tend to look deeper than just words. Trump has a gorgeous immigrant wife so it tells people more about his persona then lying Hilary.

I asked how can you compare a few lifted phrases in a speech (from the SPOUSE) with Hillary's lies about protecting highly classified material, thereby turning over secrets to enemies? Wham: Don't deflect! We're tired of hearing about Hillary's emails! This isn't about Hillary!

Not the OP but fairly common in DC. I am friends with many from all walks if life, mostly liberal. Conversations here often start with impassioned generalization and the blanket expectation of agreement. I'm too old to argue and its not a litmus test for me in friendships. I do listen, but I only share my views and speak frankly with my husband. It just feels sort of pointless if you trend towards conservative in DC. You get painted with one tedious and extreme paint brush. I'd like to hear more about OPs thinking though. I haven't made up my mind.
This has been my experience here in DC as well. Assumption I think is particularly strong if you are early career and female. I tend to forget that there are others with a diversity of opinion here.
