Salem Witch Trials. He didn't betray the public trust or engage in official misconduct. He didn't slash any tires or torch the van. Heck, he didn't even ill off a Chicago sunroof. He was exposed as being a world class dick in his personal and professional lives, pilloried by anonymous posters on social media, his career is in shambles, and a judge has determined that his record will be expunged if he pays the fine and performs community service. Moreover, the WP felt compelled to publish unnecessary details such as the assessed value of his residence and what he hsppened to be watching on TV, which are hardly a matter of newsworthy investigative journalism. How many times and in what other ways does he need to be punished so you can feel better about yourself? Get a life and move on.

He does not have a good reputation in the Pentagon. People thought he was a jerk before this.

Agree. I think the detail that bugged me the most was the 47 MINUTES he spent on one of the thefts. This is a top ranking Pentagon official?!?! Hello, can you get back to your job of keeping us safe? I know that he was not on the front lines but seemed like he had a high level job in the Pentagon and I can't be the only one that was really angry about this detail. It shows the level of premeditation and frankly craziness. Who knows what this guy was capable of. The fact that he was staring at the house and drove by even after the arrest...I mean, this guy was the definition of creepy. He was targeting a person caring for a one-year old child. This is very concerning.

I do have empathy for him. I get the feeling of being pushed to the edge, feeling powerless or angry or whatever. We've all been there. Sometimes little injustices or perceptions of injustice can trigger things. I have myself getting outraged over small slights and I know something deeper is going on. But as adults we have to rise above that and not take it out on others so blatantly. This was harassment and I imagine the parents and nanny were really scared while this was going on.

I hope this incident was the tipping point he needed to start examining stuff in his own life and healing.

Is DCUM changing its view on what makes someone affluent? I'm sure hr lives comfortably with his family but he's at best a well-paid UMC bureaucrat even after factoring in his military retirement pay. It's the Hill, not Spring Vslley or Kalorama.
