It doesn't matter, PPs, if you don't allow your dog on your furniture, or don't humanize dogs. OP's dog is recovering from an injury. Who goes to another person's house and tries to correct the homeowner's dog?

As for the disowning thing, it's a bit much.

That is really disrespectful to your niece who didn't want the dog on her. She has every right to get the dog off her.

My dog wasn't on her, my dog was near her on the couch. My dog is less than 10 pounds so it's not like she's filling up all the space.


I inquired about why the dog wasn't having surgery until the fall. How can an orthopedicaly impaired teeny dog jump like that?


Don't know why you think the dog is small. Also, an orthopedically injured dog can easily jump on and slink off a couch without further damaging joints. However, falling or being shoved off could easily do damage.

Do you suck your husband's D, that's pretty gross too if you think about it. Do you shake guys hands who probably took a shit/piss and didn't wash them. I could go on... Many don't let their dog's lick babies fyi or other people. Ours don't, just petting and cuddling.

However, question: how did you get from point A to point B here? Exactly what happened between MIL pushing dog off the couch and MIL screaming? What exactly did you do or say OP? If you were angry, screaming, mean, whatever, I guess I could see MIL getting upset and "creating a big scene".

My friend's German sheppard is a huge untrained mess. I don't tell my friend how to run his house. I just don't go there. Problem solved.

If you have a problem wit DIL's animals, stay in a pet-free hotel, grandma.
