Seems like the eagle is really prepping the nest for the new little egg to hatch!

According to the site:

DC8 didn’t survive the first 24 hours. Oftentimes the first clutch of a newly mated pair is not viable. We will continue to watch for a pip on the second egg. Remember this is a wild nest. Graphic content can occur as nature takes its own course. Viewer discretion is advised. 😢

Sad. I hope that when the remaining egg hatches, the baby is strong

WaPo: Bald eagle egg starts to hatch at National Arboretum in Northeast D.C. A second egg is expected to follow any day now for the eagle pair known as Mr. P and Lotus.

You can spy on them here: https://naeaglecam.org/

Enjoy!

Looks like mama's eating duck head for dinner tonight. I can't quite make out what the other parts are in the nest. Fish heads?

Sorry - both #4 & #5 are here! Take a look! So cute!!

The one that fledged on Sunday came back to the nest today when she saw the parent bring a fish to the nest. Looks like she's spending the night in the nest.

One of them is still there, don't think it ever left. I think it must be a bit slow or something. My guess is that it is the one that was always lying around.

Do the parents still come back? Do they show up one afternoon with a trout to find their children gone forever?
