FYI, the area of the shark attacks is far away from OBX.
We've been watching the shark tracker - with the kids- sporadically for the past two years. It does appear as though there is more activity of the TAGGED ones in that general area meanwhile when we first started there was one that got sort of close- made it in the news and that's it. I'm overall nervous myself given it was in shallow water.

If you've ever gone deep sea fishing, notice how close the Outer Banks are to the continental shelf? Much less of a commute for sharks to dine on beach goers.

I'm a NC native, and I am staying out of the water above my ankles.
A friend of mine shared a video she filmed last week where there were THREE five foot+ bull or tiger sharks swimming together at shore -- couldn't have been more than two feet of water (the second dorsal was sticking out of the water as well as the first, that's how shallow it was!).

We were in obx for a week, almost no one on the beach got in. We can do better with shark nets rather than culling.
