I doubt it. I'm 37 with a five year old. I look a bit younger to people I think, but no one mistakes me for a 20-something.

Well I buck the trend because I am an African American woman. I'm 42, no wrinkles in shape and usually have people thinking I am in my 30's. My sister looked very young until she hit some financial troubles in her 40's. When my mother was aging she really didn't look older until her illness caught up with her. Until my mother passed she did not look her age. Even the hospice nurse was amazed at how smooth my moms skin was at 79.

46 w/ a 1 year old. I have always been told I look about 10 years younger (a lot has to do with personality, too, I think.)

This is so true. I've said that many times "oh you look so much younger!" just as a common courtesy. Almost everyone I know looks their age. Many of you are fooling yourselves! Get a grip, you probably look your age (or older!).

PP here. By the way, this goes for women of ALL races/ethnicities. So tired of hearing darker-skinned ladies talking about how you don't age - you do! We all do! It's shown in different ways, but I can spot the difference between a 40 yo Asian woman and a 20 yo Asian woman! And the 40 yo is not going to look very different from the 40yo white woman, or the black woman, or latina....

You are wrong on that one.

Darker skinned women and asian women tend to age better as a group than white women, especially when you compare equivalent socioeconomic groups.

I'm 52 and I look my age, imo. People say I look younger, but I think they are just being kind.

People who are younger than me generally think I am younger than my early 40s. However, that doesn't mean I look young for my age, it just means that until they hit the 40s, most people aren't good at sussing out the early, subtle signs of ageing. Also, if they can relate to you, they assume you must be around their age and not "old." People who are my age or older are generally more able to guess my age.

Most people either look good or bad for their age - no one looks years younger than their real age. Even Cindy Crawford looks good only for her age (even with all the cosmetics, clothes, hair and her figure)

However, people do look years older than their real age - especially women with fair skin - because of the dryness of their skin and wrinkles. Sun can damage and age the fair skin at an incredible rate.

Skin, hair and body weight makes people look old or young. Also to an extent, it is what you wear.

+1. I always say someone looks younger even if they really don't. It's not like I'm going to say they look their age. I'm also of the camp that it's better to say something nice than to not say anything at all.

+2, I literally say this to anyone over 40 because I feel like they probably need the boost.

I have meant it maybe once (for a black lady who really did not look 41, but more like 30) and not meant it like 10,000 of the times I've said it.

Don't worry. You'll be old someday too. And I have a feeling you won't look as good as I do at this age.

I'm in early 40's and feel great about myself. I may look my age, but also confident that I look good for my age. I dress well, exercise every day and think inside that I look better now then when I was in my 20's and 30's. I'm actually in much better physical shape than when in my 30's when just really busy with career and didn't take as good care of myself. I was just recently in a restaurant when I and my also 40-something friend ordered a bottle of wine with dinner. Our waitor, who I thought was joking, asked to see our ID. Pretty funny, because I obviously look older than 21!

I'm 39, and just the other day someone thought I looked 30. When I was 35, someone thought I looked 26. I'm also Asian, and I have two young children. I think I look old. It's not a big deal. I'm fine with my age.
