Real fur is better than the polyester crap that will never biodegrade. I wear my furs happily around the DC/NOVA area. Just wore one of them today whilst running errands in Old Town, actually.

There are so many great "faux" furs, that's the way to go.
Unless you are living in the wilderness, no need for real fur.

I have it and do not wear it. There is no need to wear it here, too warm. I am moving to Canada in December and will take it with me. I will see if people still wear them there and decide. When I lived there some 12 years ago, people wore them. Not a lot of people, but in winter people worse them.

I don't know any 50 year olds who wear them TBH. It does feel old lady, but it also feels generational. It feels very 70s and 80s

Comments like these are so silly. I don't care what anyone thinks about my heart. And no, I really don't care about what happens on fur farms. Nor do I care about what happens on the farms or ranches from which my food comes.

I eat meat, fish, eggs, etc. I enjoy wearing wool, cashmere, silk, leather, suede, down and fur. It's a cruel world out there. These animals are not just frolicking about, living some sort of utopian existence in the wild. They're trying desperately not to be eaten alive by some other wild animal. Get over it. That is how nature works. Humans are at the top of the food chain, which is cruel by design.

Feel free to wear your polyester coat from Old Navy, and carry your pleather, I mean "vegan leather" handbag, if it makes you feel better. But I won't be joining you.

I grew up in Manhattan, went to a top private school, and I have never heard anyone refer to "top-3" private NYC schools. That's a DC construct.

I lived in Eastern Europe for five years, and I visited a fox farm there that was owned by a colleague's parents. Oh my god, if anyone could see the horrors I was confronted with that afternoon, they would never consider wearing fur. I wish I could unsee those things. Fur is truly evil.
