My child's school has an advanced math teacher and a full class but it also has a HGC.

Curious who told you that "your" advanced kids would sit in the front of the bus near the driver and the special ed kids in the rear. Was it a teacher? Principal? There is always an aide on the special ed bus to help if concerns arise. And becauseof routing, and the hours of the nonpublicschools, etc, there can be kids ranging from preschool thru 21 on any given special ed bus. But postings like that make me wonder if MCPS still has a lot more work to do in terms of training teachers or principals about treating special ed kids with dignity.

So you will have to get your child to your school early? What will they do while their classmates are doing math?

This isn't true. Barnsley has their own class and students at Rock Creek Valley are staying at Rock Creek Valley with a teacher for math. Only the other three schools that feed to Wood will send their students there.

So glad to hear they will get the front seats and the special ed kids will be tucked in the rear!

Found out that elementary schools in the Wood MS cluster will have the compacted 4/5 class at Wood MS from 755am-845am. They will be bused there via the small buses that transport the special education kids (with our children sitting in front near the bus driver), and then bused back to the respective elementary school.

My daughter has been selected for this class, but I would like to know from other parents whether this would be worth it or not? Can anyone provide insight into this at all? I read through the website, but it gives very high level information. Thanks!

If they were making decisions by July, it seems that kids who were going to be bused would've been notified by now.

Please post how your school is handling this.

At Chevy Chase Elementary, we have not received any information yet about how this compacted 4/5 will be implemented; however, since CCES is a magnet, I'm guessing that all students in the compacted course at CCES will, at least, stay at CCES.

I have heard the following, but do not know if it is correct --

4th graders in the RM Cluster will be riding the middle school bus to Julius West for math during JW's first period. They will be bussed back to their ES after math ends at 8:45, and will do homework during the ES math block.", so presumably, that's every ES in Richard Montgomery cluster (although that could be incorrect)

Stonegate ES 4th graders (in Blake cluster) being bused to either White Oak or Farquhar

Carderock Springs ES (Whitman cluster) will have a class of 25 4th graders on-site at CSES
