hopefully, Cheney will get into the race soon. a lot of people say he can't service another term, but technically he has two terms left. he would be the one to watch. maybe perry could be court jester. it would be a huge step up from his current position and a lot more demanding.

I don't know which liberals you were talking to, but the ones I knew, including me, were bitching about the fact that he ignored the warnings he was given beforehand and was clearly maneuvering to use 9/11 as an excuse to invade Iraq. We were not out on the Mall demonstrating our love for the guy.

But I'm willing to let bygones be bygones. We've said 'bye to Cheney; why isn't he gone?

In the mid-00s, I started worrying that our kids will be taught the lie that everyone supported the wars. DW and I are going to sound like cranky hippies, spouting this crazy talk that not everyone rallied behind Glorious Leader. The media, in the Bush administration's pocket, didn't like the anti-war stories then, and now they don't like it because they hate having been wrong.

About the Permanent Fund Dividend Division
The Alaska Department of Revenue, Permanent Fund Dividend Division is responsible for determining applicant eligibility for the distribution of an annual dividend that is paid to Alaska residents from investment earnings of mineral royalties. The annual payment allows for Alaskans to share in a portion of the State minerals revenue in the form of a dividend to benefit current and future generations. Eligibility to receive a Permanent Fund Dividend is defined by the Alaska Legislature through Statute and Regulation. The dividend calculation(.pdf) is based on the number of eligible Alaskan applicants in a dividend year and half of the statutory net income averaged over the five most recent fiscal years. The available funds are also reduced by prior-year dividend obligations, PFD operation expenses, and other state agency program appropriations. The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation is responsible for investment of the funds principal balance.
holy cow, the GOP should propose this nationally... the EPA will get run out of town!

The Nazi party WAS left wing in the definition of todays politics. Conservative is decentralized, individual liberty, separation of powers, states rights, judeo-christian foundation, individual gun rights.. A Hitler can only exist with liberal centralized goverment and a disarmed public. The danger is a government high-speed rail project leading to a future Aushwitz !

I know, but he also thinks that the Nazi party was left wing. Seriously.

So I'm in favor of dictatorship? I've never thought that I was before.

My primary complaint with Obama in the area of economics is that he does not does not want to redistribute wealth enough. For example, he wants less estate tax and capital gains tax than Reagan did, which means far less than what I want.

That sounds like I want more collectivism than Obama does, doesn't it? So I would be a super-socialist?

Or am I just confused about how much collectivism Obama wants? Help me out here.

So I was in the library? With all those books? And they had this thing...called a "dictionary?" And it, like, tells you the meaning of all these words! I know - right?!

See my question above re: if Obama's a socialist, and I dislike him b/c he's way too conservative, what am I?

I don't view Obama as a socialist; however, if you think he's "way too conservative," then I would respect your ideas but view you as extremely liberal and truly out of touch with mainstream America.
\\

Pretty much this. Obama is a realist that comes out as 90% liberal when left to his own devices and maybe 65% liberal when forced to compromise, etc., as President. He is, however, at least living in the same universe as reality, which is something I cannot say about the Tea Party.

I'm the PP and agree with you.

both models are economic failures and lead to eventual widespread poverty.
