I'm a Korean parent .
I prepped my kids by having them experience various things in life and enjoy life.
They turned out to be smart kids I believe thanks to combination of that and gene.
For the tests, I gave them minimal prepping so that they get familiarized with the type of questions.
They are doing great in AAP with minimal help. They do things on their own which is very important IMO.

As parents who care about education for kids, should should do the self education first. This rumor is totally unrealistic. Anyone use their rational/logic to think for 1 sec won't believe and spread this rumor.
1. I doubt any parents would prepare their 6,7 years old with 48 random letters (A to E) in certain order. It is insane. And certain ethnic group(s) lost their mind all together? They would blow the test instead of beat it. You can try it in your house. enjoy the practice
2. How do you know NNAT scores are higher this year? Did FCPS publish the statistic data? I even could not find the history data. You need to have at least 3 years to understand trend. If the rumor was true, the over all score must be LOWER (because certain ethnic groups screwed the test). FCPS should publish the test result, which I would enjoy to study.
3. The most important education starting from parents instead of classroom. If we think/talk without logic, how could we teach our children or "prepare" for GT?

I took this as disgusted sarcasm, because certain ethnic groups were being discussed. I didn't post it, though, so I maybe I misread it.

Hope FCPS AAP officials read these web sites. Why don't they just use different tests in different years and not let us know which test it is going to be. Just give parents a heads a day or two before so that the kids get a good night sleep and eat a decent but not too big breakfast? Also, all schools should have the test on the same day. Kids and and parents do discuss answers. (One correct/incorrect answer made the difference between a 140 and a 150 on last year's Cogat.)

I don't believe it can happen for as young as 6, 7 years old kids. Are u sure they are old 17 years old yet? They were genius if it was true story. They can work for CIA right now. And for those willing to buy this story, must have genius kids in the house.
It's impossible to teach my 6 years old to remember the answer of 48 questions in the right order.

You're right. This sounds like a cheating scheme and I am definitely not saying that preppers are cheaters... However, I still think that if a kid spends a few hours every week for half a year (or more) to prep for NNAT or CogAT, their scores will be at a different level. So to put them in the same pool with the rest of the (unprepped) kids would be like comparing apples and oranges. And, yes, life is not fair, but this goes a bit beyond that...
And to end the references to "ethnic groups", I did not mention any "ethnic group", just the country behind the cheating scheme. And it was mentioned not to belittle any ethnic group but because it was a fact. Just like the fact that Germany was the country behind 2nd World War. Not a slur towards Germans, just a fact.

Frighteningly, it's not just a conspiracy theory. A few weeks ago I was speaking with a former teacher. She told me about how at her school they actually had several kids who had been to a prep "program" where they memorized the Cogat answers in the correct order. This was brought to light when one child continued on further in the answer book than the questions he had been given. There were several children at the school who admitted they had been taught the answers by Mrs. ______.

They don't do a whole workbook, but the teacher does go over some sample problems so the kids know what is expected.
