Dude, I don't have a dog in this fight, but talk about off putting . . . What kind of wierdo incessently checks a forum on schools and repeatedly tries to make the point that a whole group of people are wierd? Really. It's goofy. You seem like the kind of person one gets trapped talking to at a Thanksgiving dinner, someone who won't shut up about the obvious injustice in the world and how much better things would be if they just saw things your way.
Wow. You just described yourself, apparently. I do have a child in school system, so, I check the forum. You don't have a "dog" in the fight but you join in randomly? That's weird.
Winner!
PP posts up that she wouldn't consider a school (Latin?) because of some made-up reason (regarding diversity). And then gets called on her B.S. because everything she bitched about? Wasn't even true. And THEN it comes to light that this school is outperforming her school (all of them obviously, but presumably Deal based on her high irritability factor and projected sense of entitlement). So... all this time her "philosophical objection" is all sour grapes. Probably because her kid couldn't handle the more academic environment of Latin?
Scream on, old sow. It makes it easier for the rest of us to avoid you.
The voices in your head are the clear winners here.

Now that she's gone, Deal has benefitted from $250/sq ft. renovations, skylights, IB programming, organized athletcis, uniforms that fit, fencing teams plus valuable suits for loan, better cafeteria food, excellent band/instrumental options, differentiated instruction, foreign languages. And where is Deal? Major Upper Caucasia. Why isn't Deal's model replicated anywhere else? Easier to wine and dine with the upper NW parents. What school south of the park has I-Macs in every classroom smart boards on every wall, web-based email, excellent musical and theatre facilties, etc.. etc...where else? The parents didn't pay for this stuff. So who did? Who compares? We're going to be forced to pay private tuition in a couple of years because the ever-tight Deal boundaries are only getting tighter and tighter...shrink-wrapping the W3 mostly white kids into one fabulously free and unique MS. 'Nuff Said.
Huh? All I get from this is that you're cranky.

The next stop would be your city council member to find out if there is funding to do it. I would also find out who is heading up education issues for Vince Gray's transition team and get this issue on their radar. The foundation community is probably pretty tapped out by now. The budget shortfall in the city is a big hurdle. However getting a group of like-minded parents and residents together to push the issue is a good start. In this climate I think it would be hard to get support for new middle schools. But maybe there are ways to provide more support to those schools on cusp.
