Don’t make this an issue with admin. You do not want this snack complaint to become your family’s brand. They will take you less seriously for the rest of your time at the school.
There are reasons the selections are what they are—what the school’s suppliers have available, what is shelf stable, what kids will eat. They are not hiring extra staff to prep or serve food or paying for additional inventory that children throw out.
Growing brains need carbs anyway. If Cheez Its truly have you freaked out, it may be time to reassess.
Omg you literally must not have read any responses... 🤦♀️
No, you aren't allowed to pack your own at these schools.
GDS is the most extreme version of what the supplier offers for processed food.
It is very much something OP should speak with admin about. The request the feedback and won't negatively judge the parent.
For those who still think they are unable to pack snacks, yes you absolutely can. This is like an IQ test that you failed.
If you cannot convince the teacher to allow you to bring snacks, how do you accomplish anything in life. Just pack the snacks.
School policies often don't allow it -- allergies and sharing conflicts are two reasons.
But keep repeating the same thing.

Of course they will judge. The snack complainers almost always complain about everything. They are never happy and they let everyone know it all the time.
Giving feedback on a specific issue isn’t the same as “complaining about everything.”
If OP is concerned about how the school will receive it, she can also go directly to Meriwether. Their model is built around family feedback, and they’re ultimately the ones working with schools to shape these menus.

Bring your own snacks or accept the complimentary option. There is nothing else to say. These are just small portions of snacks.
Complaining about complimentary snacks just makes you sound entitled and obnoxious. And every single school will absolutely allow you to bring in your own snacks you just may have to get them pre approved. Some policy is not an excuse for you to keep complaining.
I would honestly love to bring our own snacks. The whole point is these schools DO NOT allow you to bring your own snacks.
They will allow it if you ask in the right way. Yes, you can bring snacks.
Is “ask in the right way” code for “make up an allergy”?
Are you saying you don’t have a compelling reason why little Olivia can’t eat the Doritos and you would have to lie?
Given the overall attitude and operation of the system, it is really a change for all or yes you have to make up a lie.
Yet the reason people won’t is because their kids want the snacks and don’t want to feel singled out. So they are trying to go around it and upset the apple cart which has a low probability of success.
No, it is because parent feedback leads to that amount of snacks. Parents at WIS align on one packaged snack a week. GDS, 2 a day. Other schools are in between. If OP doesn't align with the loud voices in the room, she needs to make sure hers is counted too.
You can’t please all the people all the time.
Of course not, but that’s exactly why feedback matters. The current setup (which is used by all the schools we are discussing) reflects what enough people asked for.
It reflects what is easy and cheap. No one but the staff asked for that.

So do it, what’s stopping them?
