This is not true. Before birth control women had children into their 40s all the time.

Not their first child.

My mom had her two children after the age of 42. Both are doctors.

Are you suggesting she should have not had children?

No. I'm not suggesting anything. Just stating a fact in response to "all the time" poster.

I’ve honestly seen the opposite - rejoicing when older women get pregnant, but despising men who become fathers over age 55.

Are women so self-centered that they can’t grasp that their offspring have different DNA than they do? The kid is not THEIR body.

Are some people so self-centered that they think they should have any say in the reproductive choices of other people?

Huh?

I have a friend who just got pregnant with her first at 42. No interventions, just sex with spouse. Seems like literally the most “natural” thing that could possibly happen?

There's about a 5 to 10% chance of that happening naturally for a woman over 40. Happy for your friend. .

For the kid to be allowed to gestate and reside, there should be purely her own. Or do you think people who naturally get pregnant in their 40s should be forced by the state to abort? That’s your pro life angle?

My guess is any woman out there that is upset by a 40+ woman having a baby falls into one of these categories:

1.) Infertile herself
2.) Regrets not having another baby
3.) Had babies much earlier in life and misses having a baby/little kid

Anyone else would be happy for an expecting mom at any age.

You missed one.

4.) had one parent diagnosed with dementia at 65.

No one is in full control of their health, but the risks increase dramatically the older you are.

It pisses me off to hear that parents are bending the rules of nature to have trophy babies in their 40s and 50s, when the risks of leaving that child caring for YOU are so high. Nature doesn't allow this because it's not how it should work. Money doesn't protect you.

Wow, way to belittle a woman's desire to have children. You are being ridiculous.

Most women can get pregnant aroubd the age of 15 or a little ylunger. To think that having a first chikd 25 years later is going to be just fine is very naive.

Men can impregnate women at around the age of 15 or a little younger. To think that impregnating a woman 25 years later is going to be just fine is very naive.

PP here. That's true, too!

Anonymous wrote:My mom had her baby when she was almost 40.
As the older sibling I was made to be the de facto part time parent. I had to halt my games just because the baby needed to be rocked to sleep. Whenever they wanted to go out I was the obvious unpaid babysitter who was told at the last minute.
I gave up spring break to babysit, spent teen years almost with the same responsibilities as a teen mom, felt guilty for not having patience enough.
I see this same pattern being repeated with other girls who have a parent give birth at a later age.
It’s painful to watch

I feel sorry for you! My mom had her last baby at age 45 and the baby was the delight of our family with the older siblings all vying to care for and babysit. This youngest child also brought so much pleasure to my parents as they aged.

So now you want children to get pregnant? What?

No one said or implied what you stated. It's a fact that young women can get pregnant at that age. That's a biological fact. 25+ years later is a long time and can affect reproduction and fetal development.
