Dr Reid is adamant the floggings, I mean PD, will continue as scheduled on Thursday, per the email staff just received.
As if there was any doubt that THIS is what’s most important to Gatehouse.
Yeah super unclear. It will all be virtual or just some of it for some people? Makes no sense.
There’s no way I’m driving across the county in these conditions for a PD.
+1 Hell no.
Everyone else seems to get to work ok now (and surely by Thurs and Fri), feds are opened tomorrow, private businesses, medical offices, County offices.
Seems like you're the exception and not the norm.
The bigger problem is there will be nowhere for teachers to park. There is never enough for core subjects anyway. Now imagine when a 1/4 of the parking lots are mountains of snow.

Anonymous wrote:FCPS is a joke. The roads are fine. In the cold, you wear a hat and mitts to avoid frostbite. Or get dropped off. If this is about equity I'm going to be very happy to vote these folks out one day. And yes, it's tax-payer funded daycare (not free) and it's necessary so that we can work.

LOL no.

You do realize EVERY county in the area closed for tomorrow, right?
So? That doesn't make it reasonable. There are parts of the country where days like this are typical in the winter. If the roads are fine, there's no reason to close. And the roads should be fine. There's salt after all.
Blame VDOT. There are still side streets not plowed.
Strangely, my street got plowed right away this time and they came back several times. So I thought this was a sign of better organization/planning. Last year it was at least a day and a half before anyone came by.

I think it’s more becuase many schools didn’t get plowed out. Custodians work on sidewalks but not plowing. Our elementary was plowed but the custodians only had front sidewalk done.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:None of this would be a concern if schools were open the rest of the calendar year. This Fall was a disaster. No one seems to want the kids in school. And NO, I don't need daycare. My kids are upper classmen.
Kids are getting at least 990 hours of school each year, no matter how those days are arranged. Yes, the calendar was a mess in the fall and it was hard to get into any type of routine. But there will still be at least 990 hours of school this year, even with these snow days. Years with little snow get 990+ hours, as unused time for snowdays is never given back and we rarely use all of the time that's allotted. So please direct your concern to a more pressing need.
