We often have kids fall and get injured at our meets because the blocks are wobbly - the wobbliest ones are the center lanes. One time had a kid slice their thigh open. We have ambulances show up often at our meets from heat exhaustion - I seriously doubt that is normal for the other districts.

There are some really good swimmers in Nationals. They would probably be even better if they got to swim under better conditions.

Concorde districts are no longer at Oakmont.

Cub Run is not as good as Oakmont but it certainly is not as bad as Audrey Moore. The District meet pools are Oakmont, Cub Run, Audrey Moore, and Yorktown & W&L.

To say these pools are on equal footing is ridiculous.

No one said that, just pointing out that the Oakmont comment above no longer applies.
No one is disputing that some high schools within FCSP have fewer and/or lower quality resources. It stinks. But it's hard to agree that National was slighted for the Districts swim meet because of its demographics when you've got Concorde - with very different demographics - in the same position.

Actually that reminds me that Audrey Moore is closing for a 2 year renovation in Jan 2027 so that’ll impact things for sure.

Looks like I got a pro forma response from our DSA… I do think they made up their minds by Wednesday and just stuck with it.

The administration and coaches from all eight schools in our district met continuously throughout this week to evaluate the upcoming weekend. After a collective vote, it was decided that adjusting the schedule was the unanimous plan due to a variety of factors.

With the uncertainty of the forecast and guidance for this weekend, the National District coordinated with Administration, Coaches, Officials, Volunteers, and the Park Authority to ensure an appropriate and mutually agreed upon plan for our schools and teams. Additionally, the National and Patriot Districts are both different entities, which tournament decisions, structures, and formats can and do vary across many sports.”

We were told that our pool would not bump teams and we had no options to reschedule like the other districts.

They would be bumping paying clubs and that is a flex. Never heard of a pool doing that.

Yup, those destitute kids from Oakton and Madison being snubbed with timed finals on Friday. (I’m also annoyed at the unfairly inconsistent plans across districts this weekend, but it’s a reach to suggest it’s a matter of race or affluence.)
