+1000 It's exhausting, and it's really how she interacts with her own consituents in person too. If you are telling her you voted for her it's hugs and smiles, if you are asking for any assistance or pointing out a problem in your neighborhood it's "why aren't you a real progressive?!" even if that's entirely beside the point. A friend had a kid setting fires in her alley - multiple occasions, caught on camera, they knew where the kid lived, he eventually caught a person's garage on fire and narrowly avoided jumping to the house before the FD got there - and Janeese's response when they reached out for help getting an extra patrol or maybe a social services person to come by his house was essentially "you want me to sic the police on a black child??!" Call me crazy but a kid with a demonstrated arsonist bent needs intervention. Does she think the way to be his champion is just avoid the issue until he kills someone and then he has to live with that and potentially go to prison? Have we proven how lefty we are when it hits that point??

Janeese is about the last person on earth who will "fix crime." She is a walking stereotype of a soft-on-crime politician who seems to care more about criminals than their victims. A few years ago, her main issue was defunding the police. On schools, she will support more funding for DCPS but basically every single Democrat in DC supports that so no difference there. She opposes raising academic standards and creating gifted and talented programs and tracking kids by ability. She thinks all of that is racist. Janeese is the far left candidate. Kenyan is the mainstream liberal Democrat.

Home rule would end under JLG. Trump would say "look at this crazy person" and take it away and declare himself mayor.

I remember hearing similar predictions about Mamdani. And yet they seem to be getting along swimmingly.

Mamdani is really shrewd and personally charismatic. I have no doubt that Janeese is intelligent, but she's strident and unlikable as soon as she gets the impression you're not approaching her with adulation and gifts. Kind of Trump-like in that regard, honestly. She would think she was really winning one for the home team by screaming in his face or something and I agree with PP, as soon as someone explained to Trump what Home Rule is he would end it and start putting his name on DC government buildings.

My interactions with her suggest that you have never interacted with her. She is very approachable.

Which of the candidates is the most moderate, NOT soft on crime, pro-removing homeless encampments, more police, cleaner streets, etc?

Kenyan. Janeese's enthusiasm for spending city funds on the "violence interruptor" graft/gravy train should be reason enough to disqualify her. I want a candidate who believes the police when they explain (as they have repeatedly) that there is a relatively small number of people who commit most of the chronic violent crime in DC and focusing on getting those people off the street improves life for everyone. The Council progressives (and the AG) seemed devoted to the proposition that violent offenders ---especially juveniles---should just be immediately released back into the neighborhoods they are busy victimizing.
