Amazing 🤩

Country club!!

Poors, you are being trolled.

Kids are not encouraged to ā€œhang outā€ at country clubs. It's not the YMCA. They may be there to use the weight room but there is a reason people pay for country clubs and the atmosphere, and it’s not so it can be used as a playground or a teen hangout spot. - signed member

By hang out, that means doing specific indoor activities with coaching and direct supervision, along with grabbing food from the restaurant. Yes, this isn’t the YMCA and we pay for the amenities like athletic training.

So why didn’t you just say that? And I’m embarrassed for you that you felt the need to bring your country club into discussions about…checks notes…school cancellation.

It’s tacky and you sound like a striver. Money can’t buy you class. -country club member

Well what are your kids doing while off school? The tennis courts are busy today.

I walked past the kids' elementary school on my way home. Part of the sidewalk is a little icy but generally safe. Wisconsin is open. The Wisconsin sidewalk is generally safe, except that you have to walk slowly over the bumps of snow. Buses are running. Many kids are out. It is a beautiful day. At least for Northwest schools, Janney, Mans, Hearst, and Murch, I don't see how it is dangerous to go to school tomorrow.

My elementary-age kids go to one of those schools and have been walking there since yesterday to meet up with friends! Our car got plowed in, which was annoying, but it wasn't that hard to shovel it out. All to say, we probably could have had school today even and been fine ...

You can walk what about the employees who must drive. Congrats on your area being clear. It’s amazing to think that others have not been touched at all.

Our school says they do not specifically follow any school district decision.

I also don't get it, maybe I am naive, why can't each school make its own call? Is it because most teachers and stuff live in the burbs and rely on cars? Is it a liability issue?

The Palisades is a mess. Main roads are fine but we can’t get off our block. Our car is snowed in.

Then shovel yourself out?

Thanks witch

They will survive. But it is neither necessary nor very disruptive. Why can't attendance and stuff be optional?

Usually because there are safety issues for teachers and staff getting to school. If I were a teacher, I literally would not be able to come in. No plows on my road at all. Tried to get my car out and it got stuck. My neighborhood is accessible to metro only by car (or bike, which doesn’t work in the ice).

I guess you could ask school to open and have voluntary attendance for teachers and kids, and then it’s not actually an instructional day, just a babysitting day.

But that is OK. If you can't come in, can some of the kids and some of the teachers who live nearby still go to work? This is how I grew up.

My guess is none of the teachers at my kid's school would be able to afford to live within walking distance. Teaching isn't a well paid field.

+1

Teachers aren't living in Palisades, lol.

Exactly. Lots of entitlement from those saying it’s fine my kids are out driving around. Do you think the employees live in your neighborhoods šŸ˜‚. Unless your admin you are making 50-90 k and that 90 is after 20 plus years so no they don’t live near you.

Newsflash, most admin don't make more than $90k. Sure there are some key positions who do, but not most. So you are correct: not many of your schools's employees live near your school.

It’s sounds like the elites in the palisades can. The workers that’s another story. But listen the wealthy areas of NW DC are ready to go so we just need the poors to get with the program and get to work 😁

ha. we are full-pay poors EOTP, but love that you thought i lived in the palisades

What on Earth are full-pay poors?
