That's what I was wondering about! I do not open my door for any unexpected visitors, let alone a past romantic partner in the middle of the night.
They were shot upstairs in the bedroom so I doubt they let him in and then went to the bedroom.
This part is interesting. No sign of forced entry, I believe, and the doors were clearly locked when the person checking on them called 911.

I’m leaning towards the ex-husband.
Prior to meeting her dentist husband, she worked in early childhood education. Women with her background typically are not divorcing surgeons, especially before having any children. The route of early childhood education to marrying a surgeon is a one-way golden ticket to being a wealthy stay at home mom.
There’s something weird happening with that previous divorce. And I bet the records are all sealed.
I nailed this. Kudos to me.

The ex is overachiever in everything. From surgeon to murdered.
I mean, if this was an urban area (which it appeared to be), it wouldn't be unusual for some random person, whether homeless or wandering around after a bar closed, to be walking around in the middle of the night, so I didn't find that particularly unusual. It may not be someone who would be particularly into watching news footage and current events. Certainly something that had to be explored by investivators and turned out to be the murderer in this case, but I didn't think that it was definitively the killer given that this didn't appear to be suburbia, and the footage didn't show him entering and exiting the house.
Yep, there's reasonable doubt here. Not guilty. And he's a surgeon. We need surgeons.
Anonymous wrote:So odd. Separated a decade ago and divorced soon after - no kids. He was living and working as a vascular surgeon in Chicago. That is quite a grudge to hold for 10 years. I wonder why he decided to act on it now? And he didn't even really cover his tracks.
I didn't think it was him, he just didn't seem connected to them anymore.

+1 he must have been a real psycho and that scared her off.
