Because they love Sidwell kids and they can get into Chicago even if they're outside of the top quarter of the class (sometimes down to the 50% point). I'm not saying that the kids listed this year are outside of the top quarter (I have no idea) but if you ED from Sidwell (or STA or NCS) and you ED0, ED1 or ED2 then they will take you with a fairly average GPA.
. Sidwell usually sends 6-8 students/ year to that school. Northwestern also loves Sidwell students. Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Why do so many Sidwell kids love University of Chicago? I don’t get it. So many ED0 ED1 or 2 there.
If you’re accustomed to being at the top of the heap, it’s probably a bit of a jolt if you have to drop down a notch, even if it’s to excellent schools like Cornell or Vanderbilt. Like it or hate it, you have to respect Chicago’s academics. Going there is never having to feel intimidated by anybody, even HYPMS.

I think the know the Ivies are going to be a no-go, especially if there are legacy in the class (which there usually are). They like its a T10- even if it gets there being TO with THREE ED rounds which seriously helps with yield.
What I don't get is there are 'better' SLACs/T10-20s (in terms of environment, social, w/ same academics, and not in Chicago, etc), but it's a very well-known feeder to U Chicago with many of each senior class matriculating there. Privates are all different though, at ours virtually nobody applies to U Chicago (by seen on scoir).
