Because they love Sidwell kids and they can get into Chicago even if they're outside of the top quarter of the class (sometimes down to the 50% point). Yes, UChicago loves Sidwell students, and the feeling is mutual (for some . Sidwell usually sends 6-8 students/ year to that school. Northwestern also loves Sidwell students.

What I don't get is there are 'better' SLACs/T10-20s (in terms of environment, social, w/ same academics, and not in Chicago, etc), but it's a very well-known feeder to U Chicago with many of each senior class matriculating there. Privates are all different though, at ours virtually nobody applies to U Chicago (by seen on scoir).
