+1. 3-5 lanes? at the recenter where my kid practices, it's more like 3 lanes max. There's a basic capacity issue. I'd also argue that even without pool capacity issues, a roster ceiling makes sense. Some one else can do the math, but i don't think it's worth any one's time if you're lane filling 1 event a meet.

There should be cuts because if everybody made the team, everybody would get 15 minutes of practice twice a week. The supply (lanes) exceeds the demand (kids that want to swim in a lane).
