Most GA teams have 3 team practices, 1 strength/agility, and 1 film session a week. I don’t think most RL teams do that much. So while your RL team might be better today, which scenario will make your DD better a year from now?

A few RL teams go to a single showcase event each year. Compare that to 3 GA showcases. Also in general college coaches go to ECNL and GA showcases and a small percentage make it to ones where ECNL RL teams play. I’m not saying RL kids don’t get college offers but that path seems much harder.

Yeah, no. If your player is good, have them play ECNL > (for now) or GA. Both are first teams. The second teams, on the girls' side, have abysmal differences with the top team. There might be a few decent ECNL-R teams, but most of them are not what you want if your player wants to improve. My DD plays ECNL.
If this is about the DMV, this is a no-brainer. Based on the number of teams this year vs next at GA and ECNL-RL/Aspire, it's pretty clear the best RL players will be jumping for GA spots in the handful of new teams and the 20+ RL/Aspire teams will have a step-down in talent and the greatest amount of dilution. If no pathway on your current club, no reason to stay. GA has built-in showcases which you will not get through RL and all things being equal, you will likely get higher tier competition as a GA team vs RL in larger mixed showcases like Jeff Cup.

based only on GA vs RL, i'd say GA. But they should be better than the RL team.

Got it! Have your DD trying for ENCL NL or GA. Both top teams. Talent dilute greatly on the girls side on second teams.

Any South American academy offers way better training than here in the US. Soccer is just better there. Parents constantly travel with their players to Spain/England, over the summer, to get extra practices and experiences. Going to South America is a great idea at a lesser cost for equal quality.

I’m with you, but I think the rapid growth of GA teams in the area is going to leave some of those teams (especially TSJFC and Alex) more like a RL team than a GA team. ECRL teams are clubs 2nd team
It's this simple. ECNL parents are trying their best to equate GA with ECRL to elevate themselves. People aren't buying it. ECNL parents are getting desperate.
In this region right now you need to buy it. Maybe over time GA separates from ECRL but it wont be this fall. The player pool in the area is the player pool. Just because there are five brand spanking new GA teams does not mean they all have access to a new set of players. VRSC and SYC GA teams today aren't better than the top RL teams like Strikers, Arlington, and VA United, and they won't be tomorrow either. CISC because of timing of their tryouts before the announced GA is bringing ECNL teams pretty much intact to GA. NVA maybe in some age groups will have teams of mostly former ECNL players. Making CISC and NVA likely top of table. The rest, Loudoun, Alexandria, McLean are pulling from the RL player pool to fill out their new GA teams.
Agree there are ECRL teams that can beat some GA teams. There are also ECRL teams that can beat some ECNL teams. But the GA league is generally a more competitive league than ECRL.
The only people who don’t think GA is better than ECRL are RL club coaches and directors who are worried about losing their top players. No one is leaving GA to go to an RL team.
