It’s this.
It’s every ahole here who supported the machinations to kneecap Sanders in the primary in 2016 and to repeat that in Iowa (f you forever, Buttigieg and Lis Smith, you’ll never be President nor manage a winning presidential campaign, hope it was worth it) in 2020. It’s calling me, a minority woman and lifelong Dem who lives close to Schumer, names like Bernie Bro and insisting I betrayed Hillary in the general and that never objecting to the overall corporate slant of the platform meant I was the enemy.
People IRL and all over this board decided insulting “the left” meant big wins, when some of the most progressive policies and incisive moves ever made were done by LBJ, a nasty cheating white man. It became so important to support HRC no matter what, because Sanders was too old and weird. It became an issue of comity and taking turns, and not ideas. And it isn’t fixable because we don’t have the critical mass to inspire excellent progressive candidates. The party itself INCLUDING younger members of color like Jaime Harrison insist on treating people like Rep Tlaib or young voters like shit on their shoes.
We’re on fire because of post-Reagan republicanism. But we can’t counter it because the Schumers have made every forking deal to stomp out every more progressive candidacy on a national level. The call has been coming from inside the house for forever.

The vote was supposed to start between 2 and 3.
Right now, Senator Paul is complaining about it - but nothing has happened yet.

If you shut down, effectively, POTUS has all power until negotiated open. In this case, Trump does not care so it's going to be forever before govt open and at that, it could look however Trump wants to look.
It's not just what people think about negotiating and Dems sticking it to GOO or fighting for the people. You shut down, you are done!
Keep it open and let Trump mess things up. That's the smart play.
NO, congress has power. Let them use it.
Omg you idiot GOP has House and Senate majority. It's why really effectively Trump has power. I'm not sure why you don't see Congress is in his pocket? That's the whole point Chuck doesn't want to shut down cause why knows when you can reopen you idiot!!

I don’t really understand. But people are saying that the federal courts would/might also be shut down? If that is accurate, there would be no mechanism to stop Trump and Musk. But the judiciary is a different branch of course.
Optimally, we could just not fund the White House and shut it down. Send Trump to MAL indefinitely and strap Musk to one of his rockets.

This establishment creature is behaving as if everything is normal as Trump craps on our allies, cozies up to authoritarian criminals, ignores ethics laws and dismantles federal agencies. And now this vote to support the Republican budget which has no clear logic.
Dump Chuck and find a minority leader for the Democrats who can lead the party into an effective resistance to the chaos and stupidity of the Trump administration.
