The former DC Bar presidents working for top 20 firms did not sign that second amicus brief.


The D.C. Bar has a different president each year, and Philip Lacovara, who led the group in 1988-89 and helped organize the effort, said they were able to reach 25 past presidents who were eligible to sign.

Most of the 17 who signed worked for smaller law firms, organizations or companies — or were retired. The eight who declined to sign the brief mostly work for large law firms including Kirkland & Ellis.

Shows Trump has zero loyalty. Willkie was the firm that gave him his MLTN (More Likely Than Not) Letter related to losses incurred with respect to the bankruptcy of one of his casinos back in the 90s. No other firm would touch it, including the firm I worked for in NYC at the time. It permitted him billions in NOL carry-forwards.

I guess the lesson is that don't expect anything you do for Trump to curry lasting favor.

We’re not all greedy millionaires. It’s only the higher ups on the executive committee who are usually the bad guys. Many many liberal lawyers in DC biglaw. But many of the partners do not have a say in what happens.
