So McDonogh gave scholorships to a couple of promising MLSN players. They in turn played on the HS soccer team returning the favor.
They're playing at high level soccer because of MLSN not HS soccer.
McDonogh globbed onto some rising star in HS and now is trying to claim they developed them.
Read the whole thing, another was at Calvert hall. Plenty of soccer talent in private schools.
So you're saying that private high schools developed these players to the point where they were able to play professionally?
The answer is no.
They offered free tuition to MLSN players in exchange for playing on the HS soccer team.

Can we mostly agree that it appears the ridiculous rec argument has been soundly disproven due to the fact that a team like Whitman has only top club players participating.
I think people don’t realize what rec level is lol. That’s for a guy named Jimmy who used to play MSI when he was younger and who wants to try out for his local high school team. That’s rec level
You appear to be the only one that doesn't realize what rec level is.
How many people need to tell you that you're wrong before you listen to them?
If you watch a Whitman v Churchill game and think it looks like rec, I'd love to see the rec teams you're talking about!
It doesn't matter what HIgh School you refer to it's all High School soccer and nobody cares. Get it through your thick skull.
You're kid is not special. If they were they'd be playing on a high level club or academy team.

You realize not everyone wants to play in college or travel to PA every weekend. Right? For many, playing good soccer at HS and a 2nd club team is a great quality of life. And it’s possible. Not everywhere, but definitely a real thing. Not everyone is gunning for the athletics scholarship or the “privilege” of compromising their real career launch to spend 40 hours a week playing sportsball in college. Some kids just want to play in hs and play occasionally with other good kids in college while they, you know, focus on college stuff.
And that's fine.
But don't get confused that Club Soccer and High School soccer are very different things.
Let’s be honest though about “club” soccer. There are only a few that are worth mentioning the rest are just collecting money. There is definitely something more pure about High School sports than having a team hire a local mechanic to coach a club team and charge you $3000 for the experience.
The best club players don't pay to play.

They care if they know there are mls next or ecnl players. Having a higschool team ranked nationally also is gonna bring interest.
Gonzaga is number 1 in the area right? For sure D1 scouts are there.
So what you're saying is that recruiters only care about MLSN or ECNL.
You even said it yourself. So stubborn and dumb.
D1 cares about MLS N and ECNL club players and they will go to ATTEND a high school game featuring those players and watch them.
Nope
We’ve had D1 coaches at our schools playoff games but probably mostly to enjoy the game because it’s relatively local for them. I’m sure/know the varsity girls are already heavily recruited through club.

No D1 coach is traveling to watch Gonzaga or any "Number 1" team in the area. As coaches have expressed to me and I'm sure is well known, you can't gauge the level of a player who is playing against other HS team. They need to watch players play against other ECNL or MLS Next level kids. It makes sense! That's why college coaches focus on showcases and BIG tournaments so they can sit and watch top kids play against top kids over and over. Now who knows, there may be a local D1 coach that has something going on nearby and may pop in for a "big HS game", but I bet that is rare! With that said...I love HS soccer and every kid I know loves HS soccer and, for the record, I don't know of one kid that has made a local HS roster or at least has gotten any playing time and plays rec soccer. They are mostly ECNL, ECNL-R, EDP-D1 or D2, and NCSL D1 kids at the very least. You have to be a year round soccer player to make any HS team that I know of.
What about low end D3 schools? I know it’s bottom of the barrel but just asking for a friend.
D3 is the rec soccer of college world. No one cares.

So you’re saying you aren’t familiar with the high schools that are actually good. How many of those top 10 WaPo hs games have you been to, as in one vs the other?
Also, you sound lovely.
