Wisconsin in the early 2000s became the it school for NE parents because their darlings couldn't cut it at state flagships or Ivies.
Wisconsin grew into a good business school from that with mommy and daddy in Chicago and NY networking for them.
Is Wisconsin worth it now OOS hell no not with the Trump administration destroying the economy. Financial stupidity if your kid gets into a state flagship as well.
Is it a fun school yes, are the kids smart yep are they as smart as Cornell kids not in any reality. Huge difference in job offers from WI vs Cornell.
You are living in the past. Wisconsin is hot among high schoolers. Cornell is the exact opposite. As for job opportunities, let the results speak for themself. We actively recruit Wisconsin grads.
What cheesehead planet are you living on? Here's some actual data. No one is picking U. Wisconsin over Cornell, unless they live in Wisconsin and it would save their parents a bundle on tuition.
Cornell acceptance rate: 7.36%
U. Wisconsin Madison rate: 43%
Out of state acceptance rates are roughly equivalent. That also isn’t a metric that means much. Compare the quality of graduates instead.
Out of state U Wisconsin Madison is 18%. On no cheesehead planet does that approach the 7% Cornell acceptance rate. And feel sure to provide data showing the quality of UW graduates vs. Cornell. But remember, most college graduates know that your opinion is not the same as data.
Can you provide any data that there is a meaningful difference in graduates? My firm has blacklisted Cornell from our recruitment program after multiple bad hires but is actively recruiting from Wisconsin. The job market is what matters.

Your anecdote does not equal to the job market. I can't believe I need to explain that to an adult, presumably one with a degree. All you have is an opinion...and not a particularly educated one at that. What is obvious is that it's a lot harder to get into Cornell than UW.

It depends on the individual program. Wisconsin is stronger in some areas, while Cornell is stronger in others. Make the comparison when your kid knows what they want to study. Cornell being the lowest Ivy is a bit of a joke among the others. Wisconsin comes out ahead in some areas.
Give me a break. Unless you want to live in Wisconsin or have a free ride would NEVER put these two schools in the same sentence. Don’t kid yourself…The lowest IVY has the most number of programs ranked in the top 3…..pretty interesting….
