Your anecdote does not equal to the job market. I can't believe I need to explain that to an adult, presumably one with a degree. All you have is an opinion...and not a particularly educated one at that. What is obvious is that it's a lot harder to get into Cornell than UW.

You are the one who has provided nothing but opinion. My firm is rather large and has extensive hiring experience with college graduates.

Out of state acceptance into Cornell is not harder. You fail to understand what an acceptance rate means. It often just means more applications from under qualified students, such as international students or students looking for financial aid.

Yes. I'm one of the people pointing out Cornell, bc I grew up in NY state and my school system sent one or two of the smartest kids there every year, and I know my brothers tuition was actually quite reasonable.

But then we moved to NC and I ended up going to a true flagship, Chapel Hill, for almost nothing and with 50 of my classmates. His classmates were all very smart, mine varied. So Cornell doesn't feel similar to a state flagship, though it does share some qualities (like being a good option for middle class families with smart kids, and giving a slight edge and tuition break to kids from the state.)

I haven’t read the whole 12 pages but Rutgers has a terrible campus compared to the other good state flagships. 20ish years ago the in-state tuition/cost of attendance was more than the out of state tuition at some southern state schools, so they probably lost out on a lot of talented students bc they weren’t competitive on price even for in-state students.

I think other states have raised OOS tuition enough that it’s no longer true.

You have to be joking. Madison is a much nicer place to live than Ithaca and Wisconsin and Cornell are very similar overall academically. Cornell really is not Ivy League material and that is fine, lots of schools are not. Wisconsin takes the lead for some majors.
