BB had been on before as the musical guest but NBC likely figured they could get more viewership because of his name. And see!? We watched - maybe we didn't love it, but we are talking about it. I didn't even realize it was new this week but it's in my YT feed.
SNL doesn't expect people to watch the episodes. They have it on Peacock and they have a Youtube Channel where you can watch the individual skits. The ones that are not popular end up at the bottom and may even get removed?
I am expecting the next weeks' guests are actually actors or comedians and not "just" musicians with limited stage presence.
Anonymous wrote:The episode was pretty bad. I think they often struggle during the first episode of a season for whatever reason. The show will hit its stride eventually - it always does.

I watch snl each week (and have for decades), but the episode last night just wasn’t good.
I enjoy Bad Bunny’s music, but he isn’t a good fit for SNL. He struggles with English too much and sucks the humor out of the skit. It’s painful to watch.
The cold open was just okay. The Spanish language skit was decent. The rest was just bad.
Interesting that Chloe and Sarah did back to back skits (both staged at a table).
The new comic, Kam, did a decent job with his bit on weekend update.
Let’s see what Amy Poehler can do next week.
I thought Bad Bunny did quite well for a non-actor. But there sketches weren't very good. Did they lose a lot from their writing staff?

Wonder if the show will still be entertaining due to the absence of Heidi Gardner.
I also heard that Ego had left but that could have been just a rumour…..(I hope it was!)
I will miss Devon (who will now fill the Pete Davidson void?) and that funny Middle Eastern guy who only did one season - - those two not only added great diversity to the show but were hugely talented overall.
That boring, plain Nepo girl that was brought on last season should never have been given another season.
No shade to her but I feel like she should have been let go and ANYone else taken her place.
Ego is indeed gone. ☹️
Really???
Noooo!
So sad, she was the best
I am surprised that Ego was canned because she had an especially great season last season.
Like her bits on the Weekend Update plus her character from Temecula.
Her void was felt definitely last night during all the dumb skits.
I don’t think she was canned, I believe she left on her own.
I confess I had to look up Ego since I didn't know the name, but I definitely know the face. She's iconic. What a loss.

Last night was such a bust.
The cold open was just not very funny (though I love Colin Jost!) and the skits were just blah.
The Spanish one wasn’t even laughable nor was the teacher conference.
Even weekend update was mediocre and again, I love Colin Jost!
I just miss all the good comics:
Kate, Leslie, Aidy, Ego, Heidi, Beck, Pete, Devon, Emil, Kyle….
The revolving door of cast members is not doing this show any favors.
