I thought the opening wasn't that great but apparently trump is upset about it. I was wrong and if t-rumpus is crying then the opening was superlative! Keep it up every week.

SNL doesn't expect people to watch the episodes. They have it on Peacock and they have a Youtube Channel where you can watch the individual skits. The ones that are not popular end up at the bottom and may even get removed?

I am expecting the next weeks' guests are actually actors or comedians and not "just" musicians with limited stage presence.

No, SNL had already announced Bad Bunny as the first host of the season before the Super Bowl announcement.

They got rid a bunch of the seasoned writers over the summer. This was a full turn-over of writers and cast members and the sub-par quality showed.

Eventually it will hit its stride, but it takes time.

Agree- I’m a fan of the show but didn’t really laugh at much this episode. Bowen’s wardrobe malfunction was funny at least. But yeah, I’ll still watch next time!

I watch snl each week (and have for decades), but the episode last night just wasn’t good.

I enjoy Bad Bunny’s music, but he isn’t a good fit for SNL. He struggles with English too much and sucks the humor out of the skit. It’s painful to watch.

The cold open was just okay. The Spanish language skit was decent. The rest was just bad.

Interesting that Chloe and Sarah did back to back skits (both staged at a table).

The new comic, Kam, did a decent job with his bit on weekend update.

Let’s see what Amy Poehler can do next week.

I thought Bad Bunny did quite well for a non-actor. But there sketches weren't very good. Did they lose a lot from their writing staff?

I agree. I thought he was above average but the writing wasn't .

Wonder if the show will still be entertaining due to the absence of Heidi Gardner.
I also heard that Ego had left but that could have been just a rumour…..(I hope it was!)

I will miss Devon (who will now fill the Pete Davidson void?) and that funny Middle Eastern guy who only did one season - - those two not only added great diversity to the show but were hugely talented overall.

That boring, plain Nepo girl that was brought on last season should never have been given another season.
No shade to her but I feel like she should have been let go and ANYone else taken her place.

Ego is indeed gone. ☹️

Really???

Noooo!

So sad, she was the best

I am surprised that Ego was canned because she had an especially great season last season.

Like her bits on the Weekend Update plus her character from Temecula.

Her void was felt definitely last night during all the dumb skits.

I don’t think she was canned, I believe she left on her own.

I confess I had to look up Ego since I didn't know the name, but I definitely know the face. She's iconic. What a loss.

I really would like to know the back story there. Of course she may have left for better opportunities, but without a show or movie on the horizon, that would seem unusual. (Usually they do some stuff off season to build that up before leaving.) So it sort of feels like she had a falling out with someone at the show about something....really unfortunate because I think she was one of their most talented comedians, along with Bowen and Marcello. Just great timing and the kind of person who can take even mediocre writing and make it funny with the delivery.

It was unbelievably bad and I'm usually a defender.

I was psyched for Bad Bunny because he was really funny last time. The Spanish King skit is one of my all-time favorite skits. He's really funny in Spanish, and they should have just let him do more in Spanish and keep his English bits to a bare minimum. I think he can do comedy that relies on facial expressions and body language, but he just has ZERO comedic timing in English and he stresses the wrong words, has weird gaps, etc. I'm sure he's proud of how much progress he's made learning the language, but doing sketch comedy is like another level of fluency.

But even that doesn't excuse the absolutely absymal writing for almost all of the skits. The Spanish langauge skit was a little bit funny (the Bible is a girl?). Dobby the Elf was funny. The cold opening was almost funny? And the rest felt like they were written by 14 year olds writing for their high school improv club. Like the lesbians with the sperm donor -- who thought that was funny? (I actually thought it was going to go a different way, that might have been funnier -- like the super hot guy at the next table offers to donate, and then they try to gradually back away from asking their not-hot best friend to upgrade to the hot-guy.)

He's amazing in cameos. The PDD with Scarlett Johansson and the "hot brother" with Marcelo. Buy agree as a host for that number of skits, monologue etc he falls flat for me.

Last night was such a bust.
The cold open was just not very funny (though I love Colin Jost!) and the skits were just blah.
The Spanish one wasn’t even laughable nor was the teacher conference.
Even weekend update was mediocre and again, I love Colin Jost!
I just miss all the good comics:
Kate, Leslie, Aidy, Ego, Heidi, Beck, Pete, Devon, Emil, Kyle….

The revolving door of cast members is not doing this show any favors.

There is nothing teacher conference skit was basically a repeat of a skit done with Jason Sudeikis as the teacher and Ego as the mom flirting with him. It was much funnier. But they are both far superior comedic actors than Bad Bunny and the principal in last night’s.
