Do politicians not run oppo-research on themselves anymore? This seems like something that would come up with a cursory look.
She’s only had to run one competitive election in her life and that was a low turnout Democratic primary for County Executive a decade ago.
Alsobrooks isn't all that strong of a candidate and obviously she has some baggage that calls her integrity into question but with the balance of the Senate up for grabs, I feel I have no choice but to give her chance. For future reference, the Dem party needs to do a better job vetting their candidates before they run on the national stage because the baggage is going to come out and you need it out before it is too late to switch candidates.

You were going to vote Hogan because you are a Republican. It is okay to be that. Sucks for minorities but you do you.
Look, I'm a loyal PG county resident that will vote for Alsobrooks, but that's not completely true.
Yes, her homestead exemption mistake in MD cost her money, but by forgetting to remove the senior and homestead exemptions on her grandparents home in DC when she inherited it, saved her about $16K in taxes over the time she owned it. She's going to pay it back, but that did save her a significant amount in taxes over the years.
It will end up costing her a lot in interest and penalties

Crazy that she was doing that as States Attorney.
Even crazier that Mosby lied on her mortgage docs and got a conviction. Alsobrooks did the same thing and she’s going to get a Senate seat.
Alsobrooks is looking more and more like a hot mess.

The Maryland homestead tax credit was automatic for years until 2023. I know this because I stupidly ignored the mailer that went out that year that said you had to manually apply for it, and I got my @r$e kicked on my property tax bill - not only did I not get the tax credit I had been getting all these years, they recaptured it for the previous year. The County Executive explained that it was done because so many people had been getting the tax credit that shouldn’t have and it was a widespread problem. I bet many, many people had been wrongfully given the tax credit, which is why they changed the process.
