And then, I had to pay full in-state tuition for my kids, who did not even qualify for any aid from BCS. We don't earn that little, but we sure could not afford full rides, either. If my kids were allowed to take student loans, they would have been forgiven now. But they were not allowed to have that option.
No, it is not better for me under republicans because it is all the same for me, no relief ever. I don't qualify for any housing aid, meal programs, or student financial aid, but I sure can't afford an SFH that is the median price for the DMV.

Give us numbers PP - what do you earn and what do you think is the median price of home in DC?

They think that half their paycheck goes to taxes so I doubt they can get even remotely close to a correct answer.

Stop giving free military aids to any country including Ukraine. Why we need to pay for their war?

Except this is not a meaningful number for the US fiscal position.

And this is why rich people vote for Trump. Because they'd rather save a buck than have a dictator wannabe for president.

because global security = national security.

-former R now Independent

It's scary how so many don't understand this.

It's 1930s thinking all over again. Appeasing people like Putin has never worked.

Yeh, same here. Neither party wants to be fiscally responsible. Republicans want to buy votes with tax cuts, Democrats want to buy votes by raising taxes and giving away more freebies. Nobody wants to make an unpopular but necessary choice.

I’m a fiscally conservative republican that voted for Trump.

I voted for Biden and will vote for Kamala based on how crazy Trump turned out to be.

Our HHI is 750k / year so this plan increases my taxes by $12,500. That is a fair price to pay in order to have a competent president in office. If I want my taxes to decrease, I’ll stay at home like Vance wants me to do to reduce our HHI.

This is how I feel! I don’t even want a raise anymore or promotion. This is what the dems do, take my hard work and give it to someone else. I will just stop working so hard. Too much for financial aid, so will pay out of pocket and be put whatever that amount is while others get loans forgiven or get aid. Why does my kid get disadvantaged because my husband and I are UMC?

🤔 when people think their kid who has huge advantages is disadvantaged

Dear god, how often have we heard this tired trope? And yet...no one ever does this because even with higher taxes, less financial aid, you are still coming out ahead.

Let's give 25k for homeowners and increase prices of homes / increase inflation ?

Let's give more student loan forgiveness and that doesn't increase inflation right?

Let's increase taxes on business by 7%, that doesn't increase prices and increase inflation??

The policies are insane.

Again, the 1% hold a majority of the wealth, so they absolutely should pay at least what they are paying, if not more.

The issue is we don’t tax wealth. We should fix that.

The issue is that liberals who want higher taxes aren't already sending in additional payments to the Treasury.

Put your money where you mouth is. If you want higher taxes, start sending your checks to the Treasury ASAP.

Or are you a hypocrite?

I am sorry, this is just an asinine response.

Do you care about the debt or deficit? If not, tell me where you want to make the cuts that will impact that. Be specific and prove that your cuts will have an impact.

Do you believe the wealthy should pay a significantly less portion of their wealth in taxes? If so, why?

I don’t think you are even a high earner based on your sophomoric train of thought. It’s laughable that you defend proposals that make high earners wealthier as if doing so will make you richer by association. It’s pathetic.

So you're a hypocrite. Thanks for playing.

Do you complain about the deficit/national debt? Aren't you a hypocrite for not sending in extra money to pay it down? Enough with the specious logic.

If you are genuinely UMC these changes will have minimal impact on your tax bill.

And I paid for my kids tuition--no student loan relief here.

You cannot overpay the government PP. If you overpay the government they send it back.

Don’t be stupid and try to have a conversation grounded in reality.

Ha, of course you can. Anyone can send a gift to the Treasury for reduction of the public debt.

Good liberals who want to give their money to the Government should do so ASAP.

Who's stupid now?

That’s not overpaying taxes. That’s sending a gift for the payment of public debt. It’s not the same thing and does nothing on the larger scale to reduce the deficit. But you already know that.
