Only complaint is the weird way they model the maxi dresses - every one seems to feature one pic of the model pulling the dress up to show her leg. Lmao.
where do you live that you are showered with compliments for wearing the Somerset dress? I feel like everyone knows that dress, owns that dress and is bored of that dress. I don't mean to come off as snarky but I'm not sure it's generated a compliment in my circle for 2 years. I feel like I can't even wear it as it's so overdone.(I wish i could).
This is extremely harsh but I will admit that today I was out to lunch with my husband and woman walked by wearing the Somerset dress in a floral print and I immediately clocked it as *that* dress and made a note to myself that I won't buy it because it's too recognizable.
I do think it's a cute dress and checks a ton of boxes for me (covered up enough for easy sun protection, lightweight and comfy in super hot and humid weather, cute neckline, fun prints) but I just don't like wearing something that everyone has. That's not a knock on people who have it and wear it, just an acknowledgement that it's become ubiquitous at this point and therefore I'm mentally moving on. If it were a less recognizable style (maybe a sportier style without the tiers and the puff sleeves) I don't think this would happen. But it has too many very recognizable details.

I really like this dress but wonder if it only looks good with high heels like the model is wearing. What other shoes would you wear with this? I’m 5’6”, 49.
I'm the same height and age as you, and I ordered this in a 10. It's...a lot of fabric on me. It almost has a bustle in the back due to the cinching in the waistband (my butt is pretty normal sized - maybe you need a flat butt to pull this off). I really want to keep it, but I kind of feel like it looks ridiculous on someone my height and weight. I haven't sent it back yet, because I really want it to work, but I think it's destined for a return.
I tried this on in an XS in the store yesterday. I am 60 years old, 5'5", 127 pounds and there was just too much fabric in the skirt. It looked ridiculous on me.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I think Boden must pin the heck out of their clothes for their model photos. I am a size 0/2 with an athletic build and often find the dresses are clearly designed for someone with a bigger bust -- gaping necklines or darts that sag on me. Which is not an uncommon problem if you are small chested, but is baffling for a brand that does 100% of their model photos on size 0 models with small breasts. I have the same issue with their swimsuits.
They're jersey dresses that rely on fabric stretch for fit work best. And I always size down.
I agree that the Boden stuff tends to run big in the chest, so I'm careful about ordering anything with a low scoop or vneck and size down on those -- which works if it's a full skirt, but not if it's a straight skirt. I have some BOden dresses that just have crew neck or boat necks and its not an issue with them, though.
Oh, interesting, I've never bought from Boden because so many of their dresses online look like they'd work best on small chests!

I have big hips, and Boden dresses are by far the most flattering on me. Beautiful dress! You might want to check out the Florrie dresses. They’re my fave.
Yes! I wish Boden would lean into solids a bit more.
Agree- so often I like their styles but not the colorways. I did just get this one in the navy/white dot and like it:

My other issue with Boden is that their v neck styles are usually too deep on me.
Agree with this - I have some that I love, but that are a little questionable for work...
Same but I ordered a Florrie based on this thread. Will report back!
