sounds like one big circle jerk to me. I guess a contest to see how many helmet they than collect over their course of their tour lacrosse career?

There is always lots of churn in the 8th and 9th grade summers as everyone positions themselves for sophomore summer recruiting. “Teams” become as meaningless concept. These clubs all become mercenary groups in the high school years

-DCE appears to be the big loser with no reports of name brand players going to DCE
Does this make sense from the point of view of recruiting, development or simple decency? Probably not.
can an already oversubscribed NL take on additional players? Not with out a lot of sadness.
Will this help VLC & True NOVA establish elite 28 teams? It seems like a good possibility.
DMV Lax faithful eagerly await answers to these questions and more.
This is such a strange post I hardy know where to start.
1. What is a "brand name" player in 8th grade?
2. Is an 8th grader a "turncoat" or "defector?"
3. Does this make sense from a recruiting point of you "Probably not?" You do know that 100% of college coaches will not be watching rising 9th graders this summer.
1. Kids quickly forget all about HOCO and "elite" in HOCO is not really a thing. Playing Denver Elite or West Coast Stars is just as good.
2. Teams have and always will shuffle rosters just before HS. This is the year where the most movement takes place.
3. Up until not that long ago, VLC did not even field a youth team or play in HOCO and had much better recruiting results.

Can anyone share why kids are leaving DCE? Four players is a lot. Going 2-5 in HoCo is not great but they shouldn’t have expected better than 4-3 in their first year so it’s hard to imagine that is why players would leave so soon.

If there were better options, families should move a lot sooner than 8th grade. There just aren't. If you think your kid is buried, there are tons of "national" or regional options. You don't have to do both.

That’s optimistic. IMHO all of these teams are player collectors. Besides the money the team also deprives its competitors from having those athletes. If one team has the top four goalies how much better do they look than thier competition. Never mind that goalie 2-4 are not getting the playing time they deserve.
Yes, this is accurate, and the reality is that clubs are running a business. DM makes a nice living but it’s probably less than most of the country club Mater Dei type families whose kids are in his program. So of course he will boost his income by taking in more players if they are willing. The better question is what are the parents thinking joining a 30 man roster. The problems for the bottom 10 are obvious, but it is not a great environment for the middle ten or even the top 10 either.

It just proves that they are all just businesses out to make money. If your kid is good, works hard, and goes to the right tournaments, they will be seen.
True, but having 10 other good hard working kids on the same roster playing the same position as your kid sort of complicates matters.

I doubt any of these teams have more than two goalies, and if they do, that is ridiculous.

Good question. Everyone on all sides committed for a year. And for whatever reason, Dave Mitchell has escaped the bad rep that Cabell has (maybe because Dave doesn’t have a hey ungrateful quitter email that the world has seen) but he is absolutely as bad. I’m naive but I thought their purpose and passion was to try and bring all the players up over the course of the year. Not make the team ‘better’ by adding kids willy nilly with zero regard for the kids who committed to them in August. This is why people say club lacrosse is ruining the sport. I guess it is!
