I grew up in the Nova burbs and left for college, never to return except to visit family. Family lives far out from everything because that’s all they can afford and don’t even have a yard. Depressing.

The answer used to be Boston, but after a recent visit, I'm not so sure. The place was filled with old people and few children.

NYC is the worst place to raise a child. Have you met them when they grow up? They have few basic skills and cannot function anywhere outside that concrete jungle.

The DC suburbs used to be a decent place. Maybe it's the best of the three today, but really no parent should raise a child in any of these locations. Kids need green space and to be surrounded by decent folk.

Yes, nyc is really hectic. Kids also grow up too fast. I hate to admit it but I think dc suburbs is an ideal place to raise kids.

Dc isn’t as money oriented.

DH is from Boston. I went to college and grad school in Boston. I do think it is an ideal place for college and grad students because there are so many young people from all over the world attending universities.

I personally think it is too cold up there in the winter.

Yes, because people have called 911 for suicidal family members and then the cops have "helped" by shooting the person. Having a specialized crisis response team for mental health issues =/= abolishing the police.

Alarmist anecdotes don’t support Mamdani’s plan. And DC’s failed experiment with “violence interrupters” resulted in complete ineffectiveness at best and corruption by council member Trayon White at worst.

Mamdani’s idea has been been tried and it failed every time.
