I worked mostly in male dominant field. Never knew what it’s like to have girl cliques at work.


Oh...I should have stated that I work in a field heavily dominated by women!!

The problem with that question, however well-motivated, is that the economy and thus employment environments can change and do change on a dime (hello 2008 recession, hello Reagan vs Carter administrations, etc.) I chose an academic career in the sciences when there was funding for conducting scientific research. I had great funding for my work. It has diminished drastically over the years. There isn't a single career (law, medicine, research, interior design(!), in my family that hasn't changed drastically since we all started out. To me, the only sensible advice is "follow your heart and mind and be ready to pivot and pivot again.."
