Agreed- how long have previous (national not just state/MCPS) searches taken? Even if they started it last year, I imagine the public facing search takes time and hopefully includes lots of vetting. The BOE needs to be super transparent about the search and who they are considering.

National shortage of qualified Supers. They say they will have conduct a national search for permanent. Didnt they do same bringing in Starr from CT? But subsequent Supers have been from within. Felder is an insider coming from outside most recently - a hybrid --Starr/Smith/McKnight - rolled into one.


Smith was not from within MCPS. He had been superintendent at Calvert County, then was the interim state superintendent.


We had national-state insider-mcps insider for the last three.

Because that would be too much for the BOE to plan. And McPs employee -Cram -would be there to shut people down.

Whining over $4K..Really? That's nothing in the consulting world. It seems like a honest mistake that's made all the time. It's not like the Transportation Manager that stole $1.2M.

I'm from TN and Nashville has real MAGA types and they hated Dr. Joseph and everyone he brought with him. Had no idea what they were up against. I'm sure that experience was eye opening. Be happy you have someone that is familiar with the in workings of MCPS. No one is leaving their gig mid year!

Who exactly will hold this Board accountable? MoCo Council? Ha! The Board have A LOT of explaining to do. The unredacted IG report needs to be released. That is our taxpayer's $ that was spent! Just as all industries are facing shortage, MoCO is facing one in finding competent humans to run for BOE and do the job they are elected to do.


The voters. That's how the system works.


You need to understand the system before you post. With incumbents running with no opposition, they will be back on the BOE. Some districts do not have more than one candidate so they will be elected as well. Why don't you run?


That's a strong indication that most people are happy with things and the few malcontents that post her are in the minority.

I think is a strong indication that the position as it is structured does not attract the best candidates.

It should be full time with a salary and staff equivalent to county council.


And the power to change that rest with the people (ie voters). If all you’re going to do is complain about problems on DCUM, then you are effectively showing you are fine with things as they are.

The leaders can be the lower levels doing the important work of educating, taking ownership. Superintendent is a role for someone who is good at politics, don’t need him/her to lead if the lower levels take pride and step up. ok, so I’m smoking something

Why wait until the last minute? We must insist that people are incompetent before they have spent even one day on the job!!!!!!!! Also, completely unrelatedly, why are qualified candidates unwilling to apply to be superintendent of MCPS?

He left MCPS 2019.


What did he know if any about the allegations against certain MCPS employees before he left in 2019?
