Yep. Agree with so many names so far, most are nepo babies. Many are just there through connections and/or good lord not talent, per se. Some of them learn how to act as they go. When I want to see actual acting I usually turn to indie films, sometimes you can see actual talent there.

I thought she was awful in 4 Weddings, but I didn't mind her in Groundhog Day.

I agree about Keanu. He's not a great actor, but he definitely has screen presence and charisma.

It seems like a lot of people (Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston, etc.) just play themselves. People are typecast for a reason.

We need to have a Bollywood version of this thread because I guarantee ALL the names will come out. There was one hot-but-dumb Bollywood actress (Katrina Kaif) who said that the casting couch is nothing to be ashamed of because it benefits both parties.

I remember that Katrina Kaif literally described the casting couch as "a symbiotic relationship."

She also cannot act for peanuts, by the way, and sort of simpers through all of her roles. Then again, speaking as a South Asian American, I've observed that Bollywood films don't require acting talent. They require light skin, a bit of dancing ability and...that's it.

I actually think that was 90% the fault of George Lucas. Because Natalie Portman is a good actress IMO but her Padme was horrible. Even a good chunk of Ewan McGregor’s scenes were weird. I think they all gave what George asked for.

Natalie Portman in Black Swan was great. I didn't like her in the Star Wars films but I hated almost everyone in them. Glad I'm not alone.

She was so much better when she was younger - I love her in Beautiful Girls, for example.

Some really fantastic Black actors out there who probably never got a chance because these two want a monopoly. Jada Pinkett Smith can't even act, she has literally zero talent. Will Smith has good comic timing, but nothing else.

DP, but do you know how many untalented jerks have won Emmys, Oscars, and Golden Globes? A hell of a lot. There've been a few articles over the decades about how rigged most awards ceremonies are. And if the available pool of candidates for a particular award isn't very high caliber in a particular year...well, they have to give the award to someone. Part of why I never follow awards shows.

Amen. Also why I don't watch the Grammys. Even the YouTuber/TikTok "musicians" don't make real music anymore, let alone the big names of Fake Music who will win a Grammy for doing nothing artistic.
