If you agree having a free press is important, why aren't you paying for it?
+1
I subscribe to eight newspapers.
People who brag about not reading newspapers sound to me like people bragging about how much junk food they eat. Congratulations?

People aren't paying for it because it has no value. Most newspapers are just vectors for a certain point of view, including the WaPo. The stories they choose to cover and promote. Where they send their reporters. What questions they ask. How they frame a story, even simple news. None of it is unbiased.
Ok, Trump, but the Washington Post is one of the finest newspapers in the entire world.
As it goes down in flames, I'm sure you will continue to cheer it on. And then what will you have?
ooo, sounds dramatic though i have no idea what you're talking about (and the washington post will be here long after your children's children are dead).

No, we should not. Sorry you don't like the stance or the opinion. I would tell you that it is you that should SFTU but its easier to let you keep talking so people see what you say and make up their own mind, like a adult would.
You are a freeloader. If you don’t pay, then don’t read (and definitely don’t complain). Newspapers are not charities.
No, I chose not to support businesses that hate me. There are alot of ways to consume news these days. Sorry newspapers have become irrelevant.
I think the problem here is that you're an idiot. But, please, feel free to get all your news from your neighbor's slow cousin's blog. Sounds like that's more your speed anyway.
Ad Hominem, thats ok. You can't win the argument. But keep trying. You may be that participation badge at some point.
Your argument was "I don't want to buy a newspaper." Ok, well, thanks for sharing. Not really an argument or even very interesting. Educated people though read newspapers and they support newspapers because democracies cannot function without them.

Anonymous wrote:The Post is so left-leaning I need an Advil after attempting to read an “article.” In todays article “The plagiarism allegations against ex-Harvard president Claudine Gay, explained” you have to read through 24 paragraphs of mental gymnastics trying to defend Gay before you get to the very last paragraph which says everything you needs to know about why she was fired:
“Carol M. Swain, an academic whose work was allegedly misused, has been more critical. She wrote in the Wall Street Journal that improper citations harm scholars, and that “Ms. Gay’s damage to me is aggravated because her early work was in the area where my research is considered seminal.” Swain later added, “Ms. Gay had no problem riding on the coattails of people whose work she used without proper attribution. Many of those whose work she pilfered aren’t as incensed as I am. They are elites who have benefited from a system that protects its own.”
The very last paragraph, if you’ve even made it that far.
